Virgin Blue.......Is the end near ???

Signing on yesterday and run into a Office lurker on ground duties in QCC.

Told me "must go, company has been asked by federal government to put together an action plan to cover for the collapse of Virgin Blue".

Well push me over with a feather!!!!

But recent results say TOLL won't be pumping in more money.

Please do not salivate on Prune. It messes my computer. The demise, hinted demise, rumoured demise or speculated demise of ANY carrier is not a good enough reason to smirk, even around QCC. Perhaps I should say ESPECIALLY around QCC

Virgin run a tight ship, focussed fleet, believable brand, good infrastructure. Someone has to do the job they do. I think someone like a Warren Buffet would be considering buying in, albeit at a very low price.

Who knows though. The plan might be to re-regulate the industry. The Two Airline Policy was brought in to save Ansett. Some believe Compass Mk 1 was dispatched fairly quickly to save Ansett again. Who knows what Mr Rudd could do?

Something very closely resembling VB will be flying for a while yet.

Seems to be reasonable loads getting on and off the aircraft from what I can see. So unless the cost to run the operation has increased considerably I can't really see this happening.
I think all the collapses, laying off of staff across all industries have the Govt a bit scared as there will come a point where thay just won't be able to help anyone.

In Tuesdays Fin Review was a small report of 2 VB 737s having been sold to a chinese bank and leased back. If correct it would be of great concern. For everyones sake i hope all these rumours are incorrect. This country needs a healthy and competitive VB to survive and prosper.

Wind up alert!!

Signing on yesterday and run into a Office lurker on ground duties in QCC.

Told me "must go, company has been asked by federal government to put together an action plan to cover for the collapse of Virgin Blue".
So, now we have a lowly office lurker privy to some secret Government decision which the media do not yet know about?

Spare me please!

The Two Airline Policy was brought in to save Ansett.
No, it was introduced immediately post World War II to regulate domestic airlines and if anything, to protect the Government investment in TAA. The original two airlines were TAA and Holyman's ANA. It did not affect Ansett until that airline acquired ANA in a reverse take over in the early 1950's.

I have a strong inclination to move this thread to Jet Blast!

TW - Move the thread to where it belongs, preferably right off PPruNe.

This thread would be a waste of space in Jet Blast.

Spare me and our user's intelligence by not posting stories worthy of Aesop's Fables - or some wet dream you had at 3.32 am this morning!

Feel free to start a new thread when real facts are available!
