"E-jet at 80% of 737 pay which i am only guessing must be close to tiger pay."

Hmm. lets see. A Tiger FO is on a base of 75k + flight pay of $36 per hour, so at say 800 hours thats 800*36=28800+75000=103800.

What is a E-Jet FO on?

Lightbulb Sweet...

I actually attended a little event in Sydney last year and I observed a “feeling no pain” CEO Tony Davis being asked two questions by a Tiger pilot wannabee…

Q. Do you have enough pilots?

A. The “Business Model” dictates that we run two Capts and two FOs short and we don’t pay our pilots anything extra for working on days off to cover the short fall. We do not give them any pay rises and it saves us around 2 million a year across the entire company! Anyway if I want another pilot I shake a tree and a Monkey falls out.

Q. Are you sure that not serving the other two major “cash cows” in Australia (SYD/BNE) is wise?

A. I know what I am doing…

The CEO didn’t shake the tree and the conversation ended.

Unome,

With all due respect, your quoting of the answers given by Davis - Bollocks.

At least try to use some genuine info when placing an argument you shmuck.

Is it true that ADL charges more than BNE? Yet they fly to ADL.... There is something stopping Davis from entering BNE, cant be landing fees. Certaily time someone gave Virgin a run for their money..

Shakin' that tree...

AngryQrka,

With due respect, I wouldn't have thought the CEO would have time for PPRuNe?

I standby the quote with no malice intended.

In fact, these statements have been repeated by a number of Tiger personnel.

You have called me a shmuck and denounced my version as bollocks, YET you do not offer what you claim to be the "genuine" version of events.

Sooo really what are the real problems with regard to working for Tiger?

Before anyone answers this please dont mention the old arguement with regard to paying for ratings...thats been done to death.. Lets just presume for one second that they did endorse you...so what now are the problems?

The pay isnt comparable it seems to other A320 FOs. What about Captains?
Whats the roster like? Whats the pension like? Sby cover? Block sby? etc etc.

Can somebody just put the details on here and let the facts do the talking. No opinions possibly...

I suspect that there is a significant difference between canceling a service due to disruption resulting in subsequent lack of crew and not having enough crew to meet the scheduled flying in the first instance. In QF at the moment there is occasionally the former. There is not the latter.

Whether or not that is also the case for Tiger is the question.

Whether Tiger, QF, DJ, JQ or anyone else - if they are short crew and drivers let's hope they just get on with it and employ some locals.

Let's not make too much of a big deal out of it - canx happens everyday for almost every airline. The last things any of us need however are -
a) more imported crew
b) a lack of market confidence from the pax/punters
c) beating up of non issues

Have not heard too many squarks from disaffected passengers - maybe the pax are a little more realistic than we are these days? (or Toaday Tonight used it's only vision of Tiger on Westy's beat up the other night)

Might have something to do with many of the passengers being mindless bogans.

Why are people comparing the pay rate of a 78 - 104 seat aircrarft to a 180 seat aircraft. Shouldn't we compare apples with apples ie B737 to A320.

To amuse those who whish to compare a smaller aircraft to a larger one;

Ejet base pay Level 1 $76640, Level 2 (after 500 hours on type) $83608.

Overtime pay over 71 hours per roster period = $88 per hour for level 1 and $96 for level 2.

Working on day off paid a min of 5 hours at the above rate.

Overnight allowances total $115.05.

Roster's are 28 day roster with a min of 11 days off in 28.

So using the above example of 800 hours per year;

Level 1 FO could earn $76640 + (1.7 hrs over 71 per month) x11 = 1645.6 + 3 overnights per month ($3796.65) = $82082.25

Level 2 FO could earn $90572.65

Now if the FO worked on one of their days of per 28 days (would still get 10 days off per 28) they could earn (Level 1) $86922.50 (Level 2) $95852.65.

And don't forget the base wage increases by $3000 on the 1st of July.

So come July a Level 2 Ejet FO would only be within $5000 of a Tiger A320 FO,with no back of the clock flying and still home 10 or more days per 28.

If you compare the 737 FO wages you will find they are getting $5000-10000 more easy.

At the end of the day read your base salary on your payslip. That's what any financial institution will do to calculate how much they will lend. All the other stuff is superfluous.
Airlines are wising up with increasing incidentals and not base wages as these items offer significant cost savings!!

74,

Check out the Tiger website, www.tigerairways.com.au, select Australian/ english for the aussie site, click on about us, careers.

All of the details are provided there, as an alternative try contacting Tiger by telephone, a google search in the australian yellow or white pages may suffice.

Attention to the Chief Pilot or Head of Training and Checking.

They are after Captains at the moment for the mentioned reasons in this thread. But they aren't as desperate as some might make out.

Viking,

I would suggest contacting them, they are usually willing to give you their time, you will not get very far by simply turning up, it is not a GA outfit despite many opinions.

If you already have an interview contact them for the address, needless to say it is a short walk from terminal three.
