tiger xcld flights due nil crew

Hey found out that the reason tiger have cancelled flights at the last minute....they have run out of crew dumbass or what..:ugh:.. 2 sectors this week with about 16 dealyed by serveral hours over the last week alone. :=Even the recruitment staff to adl were delayed by about an hour... keep the punters waiting on recruitment day... Now thats a first !!!!! by the way how come the MD is not telling everyone about the delays -- what has she worked out we dont really listen anymore....

So what's new? All airlines from time to time suffer the same thing whether it be due to crew calling in sick at the last moment, late connections etc. I was delayed 4hrs on VB last year due to no cabin crew available. Apparently they were to come in from Melb but got assigned elsewhere so didn't turn up. Had to wait for the midday flight to arrive before we could get away. While the rule of thumb is the smaller the airline the greater the chance of this occuring it can and does happen to all of them.

Funny the media aren't all over this like they do to QF!! hmmmm....

blackbird71 8th Jan 2009 11:40

hmmm

....if they were that desparate for crew they wouldnt be asking applicants to "self sponsor" their endorsements.

Aussie 8th Jan 2009 21:24

good post blackbird, couldnt have said it better myself!

galdian 9th Jan 2009 02:30

So Tiger have a "lack of crew" due lack of applications because of the need to self sponsor??
Obviously you guys are insiders because from what I hear there are more than enough applications to consider - but you insiders would know better.

MAYBE the "problem" is that Tiger work to a true LCC model and have just the crew they require and can get by with - as additional is an unnecessary cost - and occasionally that might bite them in the arse.
Having said that anyone willing to put up their hand and say Qantas/VB/Ansett etc.... have never, and will never need to, cancel flights due lack of crew/the right crew in the wrong port etc etc????

You may WANT to make the lack of crew at Tiger about self sponsorship .....................if only wishing made it so! :ok:

And yeah, I know.....Ansett will certainly never have to. :(

Galdian ,of all these applicants they have how many are suitable and how many would bother.:)

Capt Fathom 9th Jan 2009 08:06

Eventually, even the monkeys get sick of peanuts! :E

galdian 9th Jan 2009 09:00

walaper
so all the applicants to Qantas, VB, Vaus, Jetconnect, Pornstar (both small screen and large screen!) Skywest et al (you get my drift) are ALL totally suitable to be employed and all would accept poste-haste should an offer be made tomorrow??

Glad you cleared that up - strange only Tiger is getting so many dud applicants, seems against the odds but.....with grace I bow to your superior inside information. :suspect:

Capt F
I beg of you - please - enlighten us to your inside info regards Tiger so that I may correct my misperceptions.
Whilst I doubt your premis - that they are monkeys - they are individuals who read their T&C's and signed.
If they leave - can anly assume the contracts allow them to and Tiger have served their purpose.
Of course no-one ever leaves Qantas, VB, Pornstar(s) et al - do they??

So your point is....?? :hmm:

galdian 9th Jan 2009 09:05

apologies, forgot:
walaper
here's a minefield if you want to go for a walk................

define "suitable."

Brave man (or stupid) if you do - but it's still a free country! ;)

cheers
galdian

Tiger

G'day,

Anyone knows if Tiger are still looking for DEC? and who to contact?

Thank you in advance....

framer 9th Jan 2009 20:42

I'm sorry 74World but I see you are wearing sunglasses inside. You are not suitable to work with us here at Tiger. (None of the other pilots can afford sunnies and would get mighty jelous....sorry)

galdian 9th Jan 2009 21:03

Hmmmm
Certainly a most......unexpected......way to define "suitable", framer.

"You idiot, it's not about the qualifications, it's all about the sunglasses!! ;)

Maybe a tad unfair - I'm sure even the Tiger boys could afford the rayban knockoffs you can find in various delightful destinations in SEA!

Cheers :ok:

walaper 9th Jan 2009 22:58

galdian, i am sure you are correct that all major companies have "more than enough applications "to consider but that doesn't equate to enough suitable as defined by their HR, PPM , Ops Dept or whatever equivalent they have.Or would you suggest that every one gets the nod. Now take a couple of deep breaths an asprin take a lie down and chill out.

walaper 9th Jan 2009 23:04

suitable

suitable adjective satisfactory or right for a particular person, purpose, or occasion etc.

galdian 10th Jan 2009 00:18

ah walaper
you're showing your youth (lucky bugger): the old saying used to be "...now have a bex, a cup of tea and a good lie down!"

My understanding is they have enough suitable applicants to consider whether for DEC, F/O upgrades to command or entry as F/O, depending on what the needs of Tiger are at the time; can only imagine the general slowdown and some airlines parking planes (hopefully only temporarily) will increase the pool of "suitable" applicants.

Now off I go for my "..bex, a cup of tea......etc." ;)

74world 10th Jan 2009 07:38

Tiger

Guys, is anyone able to any my previous questions (DEC and who to contact) without talking about "sunglasses"?....

Sunstar320 10th Jan 2009 07:42

According to Tony Davis:

The cycle has thrown up some opportunities, and right now I’m probably getting 50 applications a day from US-based pilots saying, ‘Give us a job’,” Tiger’s chief executive Tony Davis told the Sydney Morning Herald.
USA Airlines better watch out!, soon there will be no pilots left!.

This thread has gone haywire by the way..hit the CLOSED button

walaper 10th Jan 2009 07:57

Ah galdian I do recall the old bexs or there was also the vincents terribly hard on the kidneys.Back to the thread, i would suspect you are close to the money as for example DJ are only recruiting on their E-jet at 80% of 737 pay which i am only guessing must be close to tiger pay. I am sure an A320 is more attractive than an E170/190.
