Toll should have a closer look at the Virgins NZ operation flying 180 seats aircraft and only half filling the planes with passengers. Lots of waste of money!

Pacific Blue should find some A319's(Perfect for flying round NZ and loads would be more attractive I guess)

Why dont VB put their E190's on the thinner trans-tasman routes if the 737 loads are only half full?

I dont know if there would be a signifigant saving in operating costs?

The focus should be on Qantas, that is the airline in real trouble.

forgive me if you are just 'winding up' but DJ management are quite aware of the 144 seat 737-700, infact almost half of the 737 fleet are 700W!

for your sake i hope your just 'taking the piss' because someone who claims to be boeingmad should know better.

sorry to everyone else for the thread drift but i have very little to contribute to something i know very little about ie. asx and airline management.

Ozbiggles, REX closed at $1.05!

It seems the transport stocks being hardest hit are those seen by the market as the most vulnerable to fuel price fluctuations and high debt levels!!

The question is will VB and PB stay a float?

After all the money they have poured into there NZ Opertaion, spending lots of money on training engineers in NZ to get them up to speed and sending engineers from Oz to support V tech Nz operation and V Australia and those new Embraers. There finance department should be having a close look at what is really going on!!

One of my family works for DJ. The flights are full, the yields have gone through the roof, the cash reserves are said to be increasing as indicated in market guidance, and some are wondering if the small fleet reductions announced are really necessary.

This is very different from the hate fantasies that appear here. He says lots of things are wrong at Virgin Blue, unhappy people, too much work, not enough dough, and all that. Nothing is perfect but they are doing orright under the circumstances. Everyone knows the share price is a joke because there are really four owners with about nine tenths of the stock, but for anyone expecting them to sink, well, in yer dreams.

SuperDooperEngineer - You really have a problem with the NZ & International Ops! We all do with Kiwis I guess, some only as far as the sporting field but give it a rest.

Take a closer look, as even with their current management (and all their "proven" backgrounds...) the dollars are being made there. It was set up 5 years back, for different reasons but has proven to be very profitable in flying.

A look at the mammoth amount of VB middle-management and "committee"/work groups would be better justified.

I suggest that the Qantas engineers might be on the Xmas card list.

The reason DJ flights are currently full is because of the troubles at Qantas, no business person wants to spend 3 or 4 hours waiting around an airport for their flight. Business people whole fly regularly are well aware of the horror stories some pax are going through, so they are just flying DJ and not taking the risk.

The question is what will happen if qantas manage to get their act together.

I heard a rumour today that Tiger were recently in discussions with Toll regarding a take over of Tolls share! The sharks are circling maybe? Is this just the old SQ rumour rearing its old ugly head? Or is this the start of SQ turning VB into a two class outfit, Tiger as the LCC and VAus providing the back door rights for the SQ giant to the States? Time will tell. Is Tiger registered as a an Australian entity, if so, do the foreign ownership laws apply here? I bet if Toll got the right price, its game on.

ITS NEVER A DULL MOMENT IN THIS GAME.

Dirty Deeds. You may be on the money. The appointment of the new CEO for Tiger from Mac Bank is not insignificant especially if the rumour that SQ pushed for her is true.
