APNG to get own 737-300

I have heard that APNG is in the process of buying there own 737-300. This should give pixie a run for there money. Great news for the dash 8 crews with some future in their current company, one way to stop the loss of crews to other operators.

No the 733 they operate is under wet lease / acmi from "Our Airline"

They have been talking about a 737-300 for a while under 'Skytrans" but I do believe its all been hush hush

mind you though, look's like they are buying a bulk load more of Dash 8's soon

News report I saw reporting that GM John Fritzgerald saying that APNG is getting the 737 and that they would be working with ON to provide each other with back up. I thought that the wild group just got 2 new dash 8's last week.

Well I know they brought 3 from another carrier with 2 delivered last week as you mentioned, the other one I presume had an early C Check. Brings the total fleet somewhere around the 18mark.........

Heard rumours they are looking at buying another six in one transaction

Good old GB...... Must say OzJet did well getting rid of him when they did as he was poisoning the moral and running with his own agenda. I have heard though that GB has applied to SAPL and NJRS for flying positions. Maybe the Wild group is making him accountable now and he doesn't enjoy it.

Good luck to the remaining crew in Perth, Derby going to a forth weekly service is just the start of things to come.

Airlines PNG goes public

AIRLINES PNG (APNG) Limited is going public with the issue of 105 million shares to potential investors.
It was reported in National Superannuation Fund Ltd newsletter that the airline which operates local and international routes would list on the Port Moresby Stock Exchange on June 23.
The airline intends to use funds raised from the listing to purchase four aircraft, a Twin Otter, two Dash 8s and a Boeing 737, while some of it will be used to reduce debts and used as working capital.
“The owners of APNG are offering 50 per cent of the company, that 105 million shares, to potential investors and the public in Papua New Guinea,” the newsletter stated. The offer opened on April 30 and will close on June 6.
The application price for investing into APNG shares is K1.00 and each potential investor may apply for a minimum parcel of 2000 shares or a higher number of shares in multiples of 100.
According to the newsletter, thus, a minimum investment of K2000 was an equitable value for investing into an airline company that was competitive within PNG’s airline industry through expansion of its capacity, passenger numbers and routes serviced.
Most notably, National Super-annuation Fund, PNG’s growing superfund, is looking to acquire 10 per cent of the shares that are being offered to the public.
APNG was started in 1987 in Milne Bay Province. It went on to acquire a long term contract with Chevron Niugini in 1989 to provide aviation support to the Kutubu oilfields.
In 1997, the company purchased two Dash 8 aircraft which took the airline into the high capacity passenger market and laid the groundwork for the highly competitive and technically competent airline it is today.
Before 2005, it operated as a domestic carrier but soon after started international services to Cairns in 2005 and Brisbane in 2006.
By the end of this year, APNG will have 18 planes in their fleet, that is eight Twin Otters, nine Dash 8s and one Boeing 737.
And as of March this year, APNG has more than 70 pilots, men and women, to undertake the company’s flight operations and 131 engineering staff to look after the company’s fleet.
Pacific Nominees Limited has been appointed as advisers to the share issue, while Kina Securities Ltd has been appointed as the broker to the issue, PNG Registries Ltd as registrar, Deloitte Touch Tohmatsu as auditors, O’Brien’s as lawyers and Bank of South Pacific Ltd as the airline’s designated bank.

Looks like to Post Courier got a couple of facts wrong.

APNG first started a schedule service to Cairns from Tabubil, Kiunga, Daru and Alotau (with Dash 8's) around 1998, as well as to Cairns and Townsville (with Dash 8's) from Pt Moresby; and Merauke, West Irian (with B1900's) from Pt Moresby and Daru.

We had verbal approval from Customs to operate out of these strips but a couple of days before the first flight out of Alotau Customs reneged on their approval... that was until we advised Tim Neville (local member at that time) of the problem. Problem solved.

GB

Greenslopes.......he is former Chief Pilot of Ozjet, now in a similar role with APNG, and well qualified to introduce 737 to APNG ops.

He is also ex-CASA, ON and NJS, so yes he is well qualified to introduce the 737.

A1BUGSMASHER....your quote

What I am told by the crews that were there at the time ...... a hell of a lot of morale LEFT Ozjet (and has never returned) when GB went North.... Flight Deck and Cabin Crew combined!!!.

Good luck to APNG, GB and the float. In all it will be a very neat operation.
