I am so sorry to hear that QF Cooly peoples.
You and your TN predecessors have served me magnificently over a lot of years when I came in on staff tickets.
One word from the unfortunately wise - expect NOTHING from the FCU - and I could append a few new words to fit the f and c. When TN pulled out of North West Tasmania, Albury and Newcastle and later after East West was bought out and shut down by Ansett, they went missing in action. One does learn after the 3rd redundancy.
Absolutely useles IF you could get them to take a call.
I caused a major ruction at ADL when I transferred there for 11 weeks after the DPO shutdown by telling the state manager to blow smoke up his butt. Their big claim to fame was getting heaters put into the terminal during the renovations. Big bloody deal - I can wear a coat, not cover a lost job.
If you want to renovate your chook shed, trust the FCU. If you want decent treatment, go for the jugular yourselves. They are as useful as a barbed wire tampon.
Those currently with the FCU, you can buy an extra slab a week with what you save by not paying for a totally useless alleged service.
As for you Cooly guys and girls, the good stuff always floats and will survive.
Best of luck and my wishes are with you and yours.
QF/JQ will rue the day they canned you. You will notice that QF has pumped a 4th weekly service back into HNL. I wonder why?
Maybe the cheaparse model is not what the market wants.
Best all

Wise words regarding the FCU.
During the late 80's there was a changing of the guard running the FCU that turned out to be a 'Bloody (as in messy) Coup". It was orchestrated for his own benefit by none other that Lindsay Tanner the now elected !! receiver of the In Government Gravey Train based in Canberra.
tipsy

I hear from the QF staff in Cooly that QF did not want the business. Their quote was twice as high as Oceanania. It gave QF the chance to get rid of a few old dinosaurs in OOL.
Dont Oceanania also handle DJ in OOL ? This could be a confilct of interest.
Airbus 320 is the contract up for renewal for JQ at T1 ?

QF_DRIVE:
Not as yet... Although from my understanding it's a bit of a wishy-washy agreement anyway - could be pulled at any time.
Any further expansion out of Syd and I imagine the tender will go back to JQ.
QF's iRoster has proved that there just aren't enough QF staff to manage!
Always struggling to find checkin staff etc..
sorry for the thread drift.

Will Virgin ever bring ground services at Cooly in house? With 40+ flights in and out of Cooly on most days they would certainly be able to have better control of what happens in Cooly.

I bet this will happen at more J* ports, at an interview I had back in Jan, the mangaer told me they expect to have the ground handling for Jet* at LST (and the 2 dash 8 services) by the end of the year and also looking into taking over the ex nat jet hangar for freight operations.
Sad, as once ground handling was a great job and paid well!

Is that true EGH did not submit!!!
Spoke with some of the EGH boys over the last few days. They are not suprised that they did not get it. They sound pretty disgruntled & reackon there head office management couldn't organise a taxiride at a taxi rank.
They say they only see them when thay have done something wrong and them they don't want to listen or engage. bit of a running joke between the guys that they would need maps to find there way to there lunch rooms - Shame if true the EGH do a great job & always positive and helpful

100Ft/Tasedevel / 320 - saw this and has to register.
We all (EGH Staff) share the same frustration. It does not suprise us that we did not get / bid for OOLY we doubt we even bid for DRW, but we were told we did they think we stupid and dont actually know what happens - nice one guys
Our local port management get out and see whats going on and always help us out - even J* local port managers get out and talk to us. we see the J* head office guys as well even at 03:00am when we need a chop out.
Our head office management as we call it 'THE EGH IVORY TOWER' are never seen "only if you get called in" its like sitting outside the school office waiting for your punishment. THE IVORY TOWER is full of very very very special & precious people.
now we are owned by J* hope it wont take long until they figure this out, i know the J* head office guys and am sure they will not put up with the we have to.
keep doing what we are doing boys - i know some management and flight crew appreciate us.
And 100FT yes they would need a map to find there way to the tarmac
