QANTAS lies about keeping jobs in Australia
CLICK, rant S/W on;
Once again, G Dixon shows his contempt to Australia & Australians by announcing a partnership with an Asian MRO to carry out heavy maintenance on it's Qf & J* fleet of Boeing and Airbus aircraft. This will have the effect of destroying thousands of Australian aircraft engineers jobs employed in Australia and lower again, the quality and safety of the companies fleet of aircraft.
The Malaysian MRO is obviously the very same that, because of shonky maintenance, caused the almost catastrophic failure of three 747-400 fuselages in service for QF. If not for the diligence of now disbanded Sydney Heavy Maintenance facility, Qantas would have seen it’s first and possibly three mid-air disaster with death of thousands of passengers that chose to fly QF for their unprecedented safety record.
Just a month ago he (GD) was proclaiming QF wanted to keep jobs in Australia but at the same time was obviously wheeling and dealing in Asia to sell Australian jobs & safety to the lowest bidder and make a buck or two in doing so. The GREED of the new Qantas is beyond reproach. Billions of dollars in profit is not enough we want more, more, more. Who cares about safety, not Qantas Board or CEO etc any more.
They are now a force unto themselves. GD has told the Labor Government in his AGM speech, not to touch Work Choices OR ELSE. He will bring in overseas flight attendants to fly in Australian aircraft to take Australian jobs, outsourced IT to India, just to name a few. He has split the company into fragmented (“segmented”) business groups, fighting amongst themselves for meager profits to appease the G.D. god.
It will come to a crunch sooner or later, unfortunately people will die and the curtain of but covering will close around him and his cronies. I bet the blame will be placed upon the people who have been trying to stop the rot and not those greedy managers that drove the company to its knees.
Funny how it comes at a time where all EBA's should have been done and dusted with the odd XPT clause that they say is nothing at all, don't be concerned about it! the managers say. I SAY BE VERY CONCERNED !!!!
CLICK, rant S/W off.
I would appreciate you guys keeping this thread going and adding your thoughts. I hope I am not by myself in belief? Maybe I am just too skeptical, maybe not.

Just remember it's better to die on your feet than live on your knees.
Quote General manager of Heavy maint at the announcement of SYD heavy closure to the redundant employees "nothing you could have done would have saved you".
It's obvious these decisions are made well in advance in the case of SYD heavy I believe it was two years.
What ever the future of QE is it has already been decided and no EBAs will change that.
Whether you go down fighting or are lambs lead to the slaughter like we were in SYD Heavy the choice is yours.

People saw that writing. It grew larger with each line closure.. line 3 then line 2. Questions were asked. Management (Keith?) would just say don't worry, Sydney HM will always be here.

Have any of you ensured, either directly somehow or through Unions, that the Federal Government are aware of this?
Back in the 1960s Ansett sent one Aircraft Overseas (Hong Kong) for Overhaul, and made it clear they intended to then send many more.
This was blocked by the then Federal Government, a Liberal Government even not Labor as now, not so much just about losing jobs here but in "The National Interest", they said that it was necessary to keep this expertise here in Australia in case of any sort of National Emergency or War etc.

Well I guess it's only a matter of time now.
I've heard of the saying keep you friends close you r enemies closer, but this is rediculous!

The tragedy of MAS is that they have to rely on ex pat LAMES to certify for there work because most of their home grown talent leaves because they are treated so badly.
Does this mean that this venture will fail because of the same problem as Avalon, Brisbane and soon Sydney i.e. no one wants to stay.

You QF boys and girls will never learn. These os mros have been and are still maintaining aircraft that will never fall out of the sky.The work might not be to the detail that QF heavy is so proud to say they produced, but then again weve all seen alot of **** come from QF also.Sorry to say but in my short time in QF never seen so many people standing around in heavy doing nothing, very productive..Just maybe the staff lack of productivity also had a big say in why the place closed.
Have a look in the mirror and ask yourself if you gave QF 100%, bet most of you say it was a retirement job and it was very cruisey..
Just something to think about..
