And how small it's engines are?

RENURPP in the economy config they have 110 seats, 60 in the all business layout, but I would say they would be running the PER-DRB runs with the economy layout...

The article mentions it being a 2hr flight to Curtin, and back.

I bet the old -200 cant do it in less than about 2:10 up, and 2:20 back.
Not far off 2hrs, but a bit misleading.

The refueller in CIN will be very happy!!

Had absolutely nothing to do with 737-200's but I know the 300's have a hell of a worse time than even the 717's out of Alice!!
So TOPEND I bet you are WRONG once more!

OK then ..QF substituted a -300 for a NG last week to Broome ..had to offload 100+ bags to get home. Can't see a -200 being any better.
(Broome 10' AMSL)

QF haven't operated 737-300's on pax ops in OZ for about 1 year, only -400/800's in service.

Well s&*T for brains

I mention Alice because its normally only HOT and HIGH that creates a problem, same as it does for the 737.

Looks like every one else gets it!

You will find that anything the 732 can do the 717 will do far better...

As far as taking a full load out of Curtin goes I think OzJet have a better chance with their 732 than QF link 717 or XR F100's out of Broome in the wet.

I think the reason OzJet decided to fly to Curtin and NOT Derby was for the simple fact that the runway is 3000m+!! Shouldn't be any leaving of the bags happening.

I was on the QF 737-800 a week or two back when it left 30 odd bags behind, not nice when your traveling down to the RED Bull Air Race!!

Burp,

is the 717 limited out of Broome at all?
It is (as all jets are at some point), but I reckon the 732 would be more so for the same number of pax.

A1 Bugsmasher,
It is illogical to compare different aircraft at different airfields. What are you trying to show? The service that Ozjet is operating from CIN is a combo mining company and RPT protected route. There's no point in comparing that with 717s and Fukker 100s at BME because the pax Ozjet are carrying don't go from BME. And you're right, a 732 from DBY could carry enough gas to get to perhaps PHE.

PER-CIN-PER would have been a good contract for QF Link. But they never were killers in the regional stakes after they disbanded the REAL Airlink... Well done Ozjet for creating the work.

According to my old books, a 732 will lift about 21 tons of fuel and pax off 3000 metres on a 40 degree day. Someone else can work out how much of that would be fuel to get to Perth

Gas Chamber, I flew the B732 (a great a/c at the time) in AN with the following specs.

Max take-off weight 53,070 Kgs.
Fleet empty operating weight was an average of approx. 29,750 kgs
Useable Fuel 15,400 Kgs.
Endurance with full tanks was 6 hours.
If we needed ''full tanks" for say MEL-DRW the passenger limit was 88 adults and no freight. (Load = 23,320 kgs)

I have had a quick look at Curtin-PER and allowing for a long taxy at Curtin and Perth and nil wind enroute at .M72 the block time would be 3 hours. I estimate the fuel burn at 8,250 kgs with a minimum reserve of 2,750 kgs.

Based on your 21,000 kgs load this would leave 10,000 kgs for the passengers and baggage.

I understand the OZJet a/c have a higher T/O weight than the AN a/c did but this would not help at Curtin as I believe the power plants are common.
