I believe that the Q pilots were once members of AFAP, but set up their own "elitist" union when AFAP decided to let in some of those nasty GA pilots.

Jetstar pilots in AIPA.

Jetstar pilots CAN join AIPA, and many are already members. The AFAP are objecting to the AIPA rule change, that would clarify whether other than QANTAS pilots, as opposed to QANTAS GROUP pilots, can be members? It's a little more complicated than Jetstar pilots being told NO. Give AIPA a call if you like. The'll sign you up right away. I'm not sure where this story came from, but didn't AIPA help negatiate a pay rise for Impulse pilots whan they became part of the QANTAS GROUP? I think they did.

Is that the J* pilots mostly don't want to join AIPA as they think it will hurt their chances of new opportunites being passed out like dog biscuits by the clowns running QF group.
Personally I think the damage is done. All AIPA can do is win the transfer court case and force QF to pay J*int pilots the same as QF.
That is the best outcome now. And what a result that would be for J* pilots, a 100% payrise and no union fees.....
Is the way forward all QF pilots under AIPA?
Not sure at this stage, maybe let those who made the mess, suffer the filth.

It is all about the dollar spent by the punter. I am flying to Perth and back in a couple of months and am saving $500 on the three of us by returning on Virgin. $500!! I personally have flown just the once on them and swore never to get on again as long as I live but for $500, I have proven myself wrong. That is $100 an hour that I can spend on inflight cans to fit in with the rest of the passengers.
