I should have explained myself a little better. I'm sure the QF Fleet is just fine right now, but in five years? Poor maintenance practices take a very long time to show up.

It's a bit like the family budget. you can go to the bank account and draw it down, then you can start drawing on your credit cards. Eventually, one day you run out of money if you don't put back what you take out.

I'm concerend that short term bonus driven managers aren't planning to be around (or responsible) in five years time. At that time, if QF is very lucky, it will get to spend five years worth of maintenance in one or two years. either that or there will be a cycnical ploy to sell the fleet to some third world operator and buy new aircraft.

Well you can only compare them with the old executive and they didn't exactly set the bar too high did they!!

* Closed down their website forum.
* no presentation to Syd HM members about large scale redundancies
* very little correspondence to ACS line maint members about VR

I'm sure I could find many more numerous examples If I could be bothered thinking about the inadequacies of the old executive.

The numbers in the vote say it all!!!!!!!!!!!

The way I see it is they can't possibly do a worse job than the previous incumbents.

sonhouse,

I received my first notice from the new Fedsec at 0216 this morning in my inbox, which I think is before your last post, have you bothered to provide the bexley office with your email address?
It was faxed to our work area too!

BTW it came in both pdf and doc format, and a nice xls file with all the fed exec and councillor work numbers, mobile numbers and email addresses aswell.

MENDAERO,
Who was the notice from, i.e. what email address?

I know for a fact that the ALAEA has my current home email address and I didn't receive it.

Oh,....maybe it was only sent to their supporters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine was sent from the ALAEA office on the first business day of their term. I would say the database of addresses has been left to ruin like the rest of the place.

C'mon new Execs, you've been in there 2 days and haven't fixed the database of 4000 members. Not good enough. You have let us all down. BTW you haven't got me a pay rise yet either and I want a leading hand job by the end of the week. Is CR sacked yet? We are all waiting.

The notice was sent by Nicole the membership officer, I would suggest anyone who has not received emailed notices from her or Renee which seem to be the only people in the office that I get emails from should resend their details again.

BTW it took several attempts before I got on their mailing list

Just to send a SHUDDER through all former ACs

The men that talk the talk at QF are none other than Dopey Dave and Junket John the creators of the AN tradegy along with numbers men who wouldn't know a wheel from a gyro

Grrr

Email notices, it appears that this method is the only form of communication that is needed these days to assure people they are in the communication loop.
Perhaps all the members should supply Mobile phone numbers and SMS broadcast messages can supercede the Email system.
How can Emails sent to select individuals be construde as information dissemination?

The election results are done and dusted for some days now has anyone sighted a letterhead notice as yet from the new incumbents on the Notice boards in the Workplace?

The ALAEA website appears as it has for many months with the old Federal Executive members still holding office and no Electronic bulletin from the new guys.
I doubt the ALAEA website is not able to be accessed for edit by the new exec to post a letter from the new Senior Exectutives at the very least state their intentions for the future.
I would have thought the new guys over the last couple of weeks would have composed a strategy for the day of their takeover.
Obviously not, perhaps the victory is so overwhelming their is no plan and obtaining every Senior office was not catered for.
Six months to a new EBA, a possible hostile opposition from Management,
legacy items from the previous Executive agenda, inexperienced newly appionted position holders, the lack of continuity and the most foolish call from some of the members to disenfranchise industrial office staff With Continuity.
I hope the newly elected have the sense to take this important office for Aviation LAMEs with more pragmatism than some of the posters on this site suggest.

If you plan a coupe in a country and become El Presidente know who is in charge of the Army and where the soldiers are positioned and make sure the population are on your side or at least they must know who you are and what you can give them lest...your term in the Presidential palace may be more onerous or shorter than you think.

I do believe Sunfish has a point the legacy of poor Aircraft maintenance practices is not always manifest in the 5 years post check.
The short term gain earners are not held accountable for introduction of poor practice.
Perhaps all people involved in the decision making process that reduces high quality and safety standards in this Australian industry should be accountable and any long term consequences be on their head.
Maybe then they will think twice about outsourcing.
A while back many United Airlines Management staff enjoyed Prison time for undermining the Engineers that said certain Aircraft were not fit to fly.
For the sake of bonuses many people have died in the Mining industry as well as International Aviation perhaps those high flyers should be made accountable and as a consequence feel the fear of bending over in the shower to pick up the soap.

one thing sonhouse, this was not a coupe it was a democratic election, with a group that hopefully doesn't run the exec in an autocratic way like the last lot,so it looks like the citizens of this little nation are looking for change and perhaps part of that change is sacking the army that has been losing all your fights on the battlefield who's tactic's have not been working, and who's alliance's have been in questioned for many years.VIVA EL PRESIDENTE.

Thanks for the clarification Sunfish.

As I said, the guys on the floor are dedicated to doing the job RIGHT and thoroughly. What we cannot avoid is poor planning.

Qantas has always been quick to carry out EI's etc to the fleet. I remember hearing once that Qantas was one of a very small number of airlines to actually be on target to complete strut mod program.

I just hope that the current management, who have weaselled their way in from the wreck of Ansett and from New Zealand, will not have negative effects.

Bolty, we certainly are.

I'd guess that small group of ex Line 2 Sydney guys would be taking care of it... flat out making sure they are done right.

We aren't all idiots up here..... we just work under some.
