VB freight - new plane
Discussion between Mr Little and Mr Godfrey raised new plans. With Toll having a good Friday recently projected talks between the two CEOs confirmed the 737 as too small for aircraft freight. Initial speculation from Mr Little alluded to a larger aircraft for VB freight not only for use domestically but maybe abroad as well.

Well, I guess this is what happens when you restrict your initial business model to LCC PAX only.
Now, if only I could talk to Mr Little...I've got a few ideas....

I'd love to see some 757 freighters grace our skies...

I think that this rumour has legs...
Nat Jet has lost the contract with AaE the real major air freight operator around Australia.
TOLL is keen to maintain and grow the market.
Nat Jet still have some useful freighters to quickly fill a need.

Naaaah, even a HGW 739 still concedes a good 21,000kg "payload" to a 752 with RB211-535E4-Bs, which I think had the highest MTOW of the 752s...?
Anyway, 737s don't look anywhere near as good.
Are 753Fs kicking about? That'd be even nicer.

As far as I know there are no 757-300 freighters knocking around...Ive flown most of the 300 pax versions in the UK
As a rough guide
757-200 MTOW 113398kg (most versions)..or 108862kg (earlier versions) payload with fuel for same range as 737-900...32600kg (as per usual you bulk out first)
757-300 MTOW 122400kg (just about every one)
737-900 MTOW 79002kg (close enough!) payload 15370kg with max fuel
The operator I worked for on the 757SF loaded 8 standard pallets...1 pallet of urgent freight covered the costs

The 737-900 weights listed above are -800 weights. Is the -900 the same weight as a -800?
Payload for max fuel (about 20500kg) is not relevant over here, unless you need to carry ML or AD as an alternate for PH.
However the 757's sound good to me.

CBB, the weight I have for the 738 at MTOW is 70,015kg. The HGW MTOW for the 738 is 79015kg, the same as for the 739 HGW.
Standard MTOW for the 739 is 74840kg.
There are some discrepancies between my and 757manipulator's weights, but they're damn near close enough.

JetA_OK, Dubya,
The information comes from the business Sunday program last weekend. From the interview Mr Little seemed confident Toll would introduce a road, rail and airway freight network. However for it to be workable a larger aircraft than that currently used by VB was necessary. He admitted only early discussion on the matter had taken place, having spoken with Mr Godfrey once about it. No hint of a new aircraft type for the freight operation was given.
