2010 : The Beginning of the End for Mainline

Heard this one from a reliable source...

Jetstar start getting there 787-8's in the middle of 2008. They get the first 10 or so uintil the 787-9's start to role off the production line.

Apparently as the 9's start arriving the 8's will start to be repainted and be handed over to Qantas. They will be coming back to Qantas with Jetstar pilot's driving them.

The 9's start arriving in 2010 therefore there will be new a/c in Q colours flown by J pilots.

Apparently perfectly legal with the new IR's and already on the drawing bored.

Interesting times.

LightItUp,

Also hear all Qantas mainline pilots have signed resignations and given them to AIPA. If required the pilots resigations will be presented on a set day and they will form a pilot co-operative which will accept any exclusive contract either with Qantas or any other company, EK etc, which may want 2400 qualified drivers. Whilst we love Qantas, I think our patience has worn out.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it Oldmeddle

Hey you started this - I'm just going along with the joke.

Now let me get this straight,
Come 2010 or there abouts ,the 787's that Jetstar had been flying for a few years will be repainted and sent to mainline QF to replace the ,by then ,clapped out 767's.

From sources in Qantas ,2010 also happens to be when the Qantas pilots last EBA expires (assuming they can sign up for 3yrs)which means the full impact of the Workchoice Act will be felt. (or lack of Choice Act if you are an empoyee) ie: Qantas management to Qantas pilots :here's the deal for the 787 ,"take it or leave it".

Logically I'd now be saying to myself "bugger it ! I've got nothing to lose"
Fight now with all I've got to get a better deal because come the end of your award and the protections it affords ,you will be looking at a sizable reduction in pay and conditions. It also means the bar has been set by Jetstar ,so that means come the introduction of the 787 you've got nothing to lose, what the company will pay you less than Jetstar.
Think about it. Don't swallow the rhetoric emanating from company management that if you're nice to the company the company will ensure the forth coming world of industrial relations will be full of sunshine ,lollypops, rainbows and half full glasses.

You have a limited time to work out a solution to the problems facing aviation in this country and the solution I believe can only be achieved
by working together. United you've got a chance, divided you'll be played off, one against the other.

That means everyone in Jetstar vote carefully for canditates on the Pilots Council. Qantas people ensure you vote the same in your upcoming mid term AIPA elections.Company stooges out, only vote for people who are commited to standing up for the interests of their fellow pilots.

I think there has been a typo.

2002 : The beginning of the end for mainline.

There, that more accurately reflects that facts.

It's a joke, Joyce... right? Given the history of this particular ploy, (for thosr who can be bothered with history), I'd really love to know how many signed resignations AIPA's holding.

Yes, that's right folks
Just sign these notices of resignation. We're not going to use them. It's only to negotiate with........

Mud Skipper - good original post.

I think your irony was lost on the next few posters, perhaps too subtle!

Point is however. QF mgmt are trying their darndest to undermine you, in their eyes that's their job!

You lot simply MUST come up with some co-ordinated means by which to defend your lot, otherwise you will get left behind. As Skipper inferred, resigning probably won't be the ideal tactic but there will be something - you just need to get creative.

For a start, you need to get AIPA and AFAP together and work as a cohesive team and put history behind you. Instead of bitching at each other work together for the cause. (Tell me I'm dreamin' )

No need to panic. 2010 just happens to be the date for the Federal Election after the next one.We can confidently expect the hero of the Beaconsfield mine rescue and brave defender of the poor and downtrodden,Bill Shorten,to be swept to power in a landslide.Workchoices and EBAs will immediately become a distant memory. After all this working class hero is out of the same stable as the bloke who looked after us all so well back in the late 80's and he even has a billionaire buddy with a nice big private jet, just like the Silver Bodgie.
