QF Bus/Boeing aircraft decision
Qantas is due to make its much-anticipated fleet decision between the 787/777 and A340/A350 on Dec. 7.
CEO Geoff Dixon told ATWOnline that the airline will submit on that day a recommendation to the board for the 100-aircraft commitment. Boeing is working with Qantas on an even longer-range 777-200LR to operate nonstop from Sydney to London. It would be configured in an all-business-class arrangement and have a lighter-weight interior.
Dixon said Airbus has advised that its A340-500 is not a contender for the Sydney-London Heathrow route and added that the route is not without its challenges for the 777-200LR.
Meantime, he said the carrier is looking to expand its Australian LCC Jetstar to take over regional international holiday routes from both Qantas and its holiday subsidiary Australian Airlines. The new Jetstar International would be two-class and eventually may fly to the US and Europe.
>>> Crikey Boeing's helping QF with an all business class 777!

I vaugely remember seeing a post like this two or three years ago, albeit minus the 787.
When will the worlds greatest prevaricators get around to making a decision to join the rest of the world. Even the second and third string players in the far east have more modern equipment,
Perhaps it is that Geffy is about to retire, and therefore a gross expenditure on modern equipment will not affect the bottom line before he pulls the golden parachute.

Haven't there been rumblings of rumours that Qantas want to fly to Houston for a long time now? Perhaps the rumblings have some truth?
No, that would be Dallas, where AA have a huge hub. Have no idea what QF would be doing in Houston.

Well, they've got something in Texas:
https://jobs.boeing.com/JobSeeker/JobSearch
and sort by state
But I agree that if QF were thinking of signing up, YSSY and QCC would be crawling with seppos.
Then again, if there were mock-ups & engineering stuff to look at & poke around, then the QF bods might have to make the trip.
The alternative is that they were sighted at Bush en-route to the Caribbean or somewhere else for a spot of fishing...
