Friday night was a sad night for Newcastle and for aviation in general. So much history in the place only to be bulldozed for development and some quick bucks to a lucky (greedy) few.

Love the picture of Reg. The place had many long term legends who put their hearts and soul into the place.

RIP Aeroduck, RIP Reg.

Thanks Aeroduck for the problem free passage that hundreds of my passengers enjoyed over the years.

The loss of an airline is not important, it is EVERYTHING!

I sincerely hope the good people who worked very hard for lots of years and loved their airline are OK.

You will all be missed.

just a thought, how well would have Aeropelican gone if they moved operations to Warnervale aerodrome? about 10 Miles west.

Warnavale is to the south. Cooranbong is west. From what I understand, the Duck is still flying just out of willy instead and their entire operation is now based there and are getting metros to go with the bandit. Also I was lead to believe that the twotters were wound up on the weekend but saw one today.

What are you lot on, they aren't shutting down just relocating unless you know more than the rest of us,

From the www.aeropelican.com.au news

Aeropelican Air Services will discontinue services from its Belmont Airport site effective midnight on Friday 1 st April 2005 . All flights from then will operate through Newcastle (Williamtown) Airport.

Passengers with advanced bookings on Belmont flights will be rescheduled onto Williamtown flights at no additional cost. If required a full refund will be granted to passengers with advanced bookings on Belmont flights already purchased.

The new schedule caters for between 5 to 7 return flights per day to/from Sydney, dependant on the day. This schedule will provide our existing and new customers with a wide choice of flight times to/from Sydney to connect with onward flights.

They still have not updated their booking site as it still shows Belmont as an option.
