QF Longhaul CC Surpluses?

With the diminishing Qantas International network(FRA soon to be a codeshare)and the accelerated leave program in place, surely there will soon be Longhaul crew surpluses.Perhaps that will lead to either VR or CR.No expansion in sight and the A380s almost 2 years away......Looks a bit grim.

mach2male,

Whats you take on the new LHR base, and the existing Asian bases ... are they trying to prevent CC going further away from oz than BKK, SIN, HKG ?

Will the only true long haul legs crewed by Oz CC be to America ?

The Future?Speculation only!

The capacity now used for Fra is likely to be used for trans Pacific flying.Qf`s plan appears to be two fold....break the back of the unions by transferring much of the mainline business to lower cost subsidiaries(and expand the subsidiaries)Secondly develop the Asia/Pacific area where the majority of world growth in pax numbers will be over the next ten years. The 747.400 is the wrong aircraft type for this type of development(Except for states flying)Some of these aircraft may be transferred to AO over time.
The majority of flying done by QF Mainline over the coming years will be Asian and more than likely on 777 which is the more appropriate aircraft type
With SIA wanting to fly from East OZ to Westcoast US Qf will either open up another US port or increase frequencies(to LAX) with the capacity taken from FRA.
QF will fly only to LHR. All other flying to Europe will be done by AO or codeshare. All of this will require a reduction in Australian based cabin crew numbers. It will be a good time to be pilot(as the Qantas GROUP expands) but a bad time if you are mainline longhaul crew.Allowances and overtime will all be reduced as a result in the changes of the nature of flying.
This is speculation only on my part.It seems reasonable that things will pan out way this considering what has been going on lately.

Bus Service

The travelling public think the service is bad NOW?Most of the experience in CC ranks will leave over the next three years. The new recruits will stay for 5 years, party hard see a bit of the world and leave.Management will have its higher attrition rate..just as a labour shortage manifests itself. In these conditons why would any young person with a few brains want to be a flight attendant when there will be so many better jobs available?I have suggested to my young son to stay clear of the airline business.
The service in future will be Cafeteria style and as so many have pointed out its probably started already.
