MRWOOBY,

So what is stopping GD starting a new company in say England and hiring cheep labor and getting them to operate south bound flights…? E.g. Jetconnect in NZ, Jetstar Asia in Singapore, Jetstar and Australian in Australia, not to mention setting up Airlink years ago and contracting out to NJS. Do you really think that GD gives a s*&t about industrial problems

Nothing stopping him at all Spin, in fact as you allude, the precedent has already been set.
Unlike the FAAA however, our union will be too spineless to do anything about it. The precedent for that has also been set.

Spinout, I'd say the enormous cost of doing business in Europe, not to mention the red tape, would prevent QF from doing that.

1st hand observation from QF Long haul Cabin Crew overnighting in my hotel. In a crew of 7 FA's on a 767, perhaps 2 will use hotel food & beverage facilties (maybe $4.00 on minibar each). A credit card system for allowances (replacing cash) for use at the hotel I feel will never work because currently they must spend all of their $115.40 daily food allowance (1 x BF/LUN/DNR) on external fine dining restaurants. Even on 2 night stays, the similar trends occur.

According to some other board members, regarding the continued poor in-flight servce standards not improving over the last 15-20 years.... It would seem correct to me where the same F/A's are providing that same poor service. Perhaps some youth (under 50) might be a good shot in the arm.

PS, I am sick of being asked by F/A's (never tech crew mind you) for room upgrades. I might start asking incessently for upgrades to business when i fly QF, or actually try my luck whilst enroute! And becoming very disgruntled when turned down.

F27 friendship,

I have more than a little experience as an international FA and cannot ever remember seeing a crewmember asking for a room upgrade.

They may ask for a kingsize bed rather than two twins or "shock horror", a non smoking room perhaps.
Just what exactly are they asking to be upgraded to?

Where exactly is this 1st hand experience from may I ask and specifically which hotel????

What businness is it of yours where crew, tech or cabin choose to eat and do you make the same observations of other hotel guest's eating habits?

"Trend"............?

Get a life, it sounds to me like you need one!

L2P

P.S. answers to above questions please.

L2P. F27's profile is in SA. Where do LH Cabin crew stay in ADL? You do the math.

F27, in my entire time at QF I have never witnessed a cabin or tech crew member specifically request a room upgrade for which they were not entitled. I don't know what is going on at your pub, but it certainly does not happen at any others.

To all QF Cabin Crew who read this, I hope you have noticed the common thread here. That is, that service from QF flight attendants is somewhat lacking. We have some terrific operators, but we have more than our quota of d1ckheads. I understand (& witness every day) that you can only do so much with the catering that you are given, but it does appear to be as much of an attitudinal problem. A poor workman always blames his tools.

Writing letters helps. But apart from sacking the problem children amongst you, well, nothing's going to happen really, is it? So you are the one's who can fix it. Pressure those who are not playing the game. Make them do their job properly.

Ever wonder WHY Dixon is gunning for you guys? You are very handsomely paid, yet ironically, complaints about our airline are very often focussed directly on the service you provide. Dixon just isn't getting his money's worth.

For all our sake's, please lift your collective game.

It's not all bad!

In my experience, limited to about one overseas trip every couple of years, and about 4 domestic trips per year, I would make these observations.

QF cabin crew are like nearly all cabin crew I've experienced. Just different uniforms. I've had some great service on QF flights, and at other times, indifferent service. All other airlines I've travelled with, which includes BA, Malaysian, Cathay, Virgin, ANZ, Air France, Qantaslink are similar. It seems to depend on the individual crew member as how good the service is.

The worst service I have experienced is on BA. The best was probably Malaysian and QF. What I have found is that there is a huge variation in the standard of service with QF. Sometimes it has been very good, other times not so great. QF really need to ensure that the high standard of service is maintained across the company.

F27.

Have you ever noticed them asking for a room near the lift, or the road, or the bar?
