If I remember correctly, I only answered questions if I had the time and that wasn't often. I concentrated on not letting the planes collide...I still had four collisions then found out the keys weren't working properly and the computer crashed!!

Sat my Stage 1 last Monday (29th June) and I knew I'd struggled with the cubes but it only took NATS 1 week to kick me in the balls with it!! :( Ah well, role on next year - best of luck to everyone else still in the game! |
The year has passed, just completed the online application form....hopefully have more success with it this year. Anyone else re-applying at the moment?
|
Deemo888: Sorry to hear! I was at the same day as you, though I passed. Best of luck if you intend on re-applying!

Can anyone help me
Ive taken my stage one test twice now and pased second time(thankfully) But ive just realised i only left 10 months between both tests and they ask for a 12 month gap. Nobody seems to have noticed yet but i will have to tell them. Does anyone know if they will withdraw my application? Thanks for any replies! |
I think you'll be better off to get in there before they notice and tell them! Integrity is a good quality in potential new employees, sorry though can't be sure what they will do!
|
Yea i will call them tommorow, hopefully they turn a blind eye to it as i passed the test.I would be gutted if they withdraw my application tho i worked for ages to pass that test.
Thanks for your reply. |
Anyone on here got Stage 1 tests on 24 July, 12:30 slot?
How are you feeling about it, only 2 and a half weeks to go! I'm kinda nervously excited about it! |
Paddy14
I think from previous discussions, the length of time is between application dates not test dates. So if you applied before july last year then you are ok, im sure they would have noticed but best to check anyway.
Good luck with it. Just had stage 3 today, wasnt too bad but very unusure of how i did, not confident but not thinking i have failed dismally. Time will tell !!!!! |
Fingers crossed for you jimmy - it's really difficult to tell how it went!
|
Thanks jimmy, i was trying to get hold of them today but not avaliable so il try tommorow.
Good luck with your results i hope you passed. I cant imagine having to wait for the results of stage 3 tests, i bet they will be the longest 15 days of your life. Good luck |
Nats Website
Hi
Has anyone heard anything regarding the website. I have a couple of friends looking to apply but the website is still showing as having no vacancies? |
Moravcik25
During stage 3 interview yesterday we were talking to the HR reps and they said they had over 200 aplicants in a morning on the new website, just typed it into google and this is the new website for ATCOs Welcome to NATS - Jobs and careers at NATS
Hope this helps |

hey guys,
i tried to trace down but i couldn't manage. i'm looking for a small programme, somebody mentioned that here (or at least i think he did that here); it's a small programme like at the nats selection proccess. you know that, on the left side there are planes (dots) on the right side there is a square some basic math task inside and you have to "survive" for 5 minutes with the less collisions and best menthal math. anybody could help me? thanks a lot. |
Well, took the leap and applied last night. Long shot for me being a mum of 3 toddlers!!! But working as an ACPO at Prestwick just now so hope that works for me! Nervous has hell just to get a response back cos I want it on so many levels! Finger crossed for everyone who has applied. :ok:

New Site
Cheers Jimmy
I will pass the link on. Looks like they've improved it from before. Good luck for S3 results I have mine on 23rd! |
S3 July 6th
Good luck to all the guys (and girl!) who sat their S3 on the 6th July - let me know how you got on!
|
Well, I'm now pencilled in for the Area course starting on 4th November... Still wondering if I should have chosen Aerodrome though.... Aaaarrrghh! :}
Only 17 weeks to wait... |
Stage 3 Preperation
JonathanB good choice, im sure you have made a the right one.
Those of you who have your stage 3 and you want to prepare some answers etc... NATS new careers site has a pdf of info on all stages. In stage 3 the sections listed are the sections they will ask various additional questions to, They want a situation for each one and will ask further in depth questions to clarify your scenario. The link is here http://atcocareers.co.uk/pdf/Hints-a...Three-Days.pdf Good luck to all |
Stage 2 Passed!
Wooohoooo! Got the results of Stage 2 today and I'm through. Am over the moon as I thought there was no way after some of those nightmare tests!
Did anyone else who had there S2 on 3rd July get through? Have the S3 booked for 7th August. Ahhhh getting scared already!! :ok::ok: |
ddtonti
Go for it! I have two young children aswell and I'm about to start college....it can be done!
|
JohnathanB
I was in the same predicament as you...didn't know whether to choose Area or Aerodrome when offered the choice. Went for Area and was all ready to start in August. Had a phonecall last week taking me off the Area course putting me onto Aerodrome...to start in 2 weeks. Eeeek!
I wondered for ages if I'd made the right choice and in the end it was made for me. My view is that either way you'll end up controlling air traffic...isn't that what we applied for?!! Anyway, better get off the computer and go and revise...time is running out...!! |
Hehe, a night of agonising and a chat with friends and family, and I'm now on Aerodrome starting 19th October. Was offered 20th July, but can't really make that!
Feel much happier now as I always fancied going on to do approach control. |
Good to see some more people choosing Aerodrome!
|
I have chosen Aerodrome too. JonathanB, from what I gather mate there is a good chance you could end up at one of the London airports so don't build your hopes up too high on doing any App. Fingers crossed for you though if that's what you want.

I had my stage 2 on the 2nd July and just found out I passed. Chuffed doesn't even touch it.
I came out thinking I had done terribly, so anyone else taking Stage 2 or who has just taken it, don't get too disheatened. |
Application tracking
Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone can tell me if this is normal...I sat stage 2 on the 28th of June, and I logged on to the NATS Online Recruitment System to track my application. Usually I can check the stage of my application at that moment, so I thought I will see something like "waiting for results of your computer tests" ... however, it still shows "Your computer tests/structured interview booking has been confirmed" Is this normal? has this anything to do with the fact that they are changing the management system and that is why it does not appear update? anyone that is in the same situation (eg. waiting for the results of stage 2) can see the same? ps. sorry for the mass of questions but the wait is too hard :) Cheers, Atisha |

After you have taken a stage test, the Gtios system doesnt say anything new until you are invited to book the next stage. It does sound strange that people on 2/3 july have their results before you, but the same thing happened to me. I know they say to wait the 15 working days before you contact them but a 1 liner via the message centre im sure wont hurt. I found the message centre was the easiest way to contact them.
On the swap over to the new system it looks like, if you started on the GTIOS system then you will complete using that, new applicants will be on the new system. |
Ffaf,
I was there for stage 2 on the 2nd of July and Ive just found out I failed. I thought I would but it doesnt sting any less. :{ |
Clayne,
From what I have heard, you have made the right decision, (or, had it made for you)! Make the most of your leisure time now and 'chill-out'. The real work starts in 2 weeks, (allegedly). Enjoy! :ok: |
hatemyjob
Sorry to hear that :(
Do you have any idea/got feedback what went wrong? Will you try it again next year? |
Sorry to hear that hatemyjob, I can understand how though as those tests were evil. Planning on re-applying? If so best of luck and I hope the next year flys by for you.
|
I think I was just unprepared for the tests.
Im thinking I will re-apply next year. Now that I know what to expect Im pretty sure that I can pass next time. Doesnt help that my current employers are trying to £$%& over me and my partner at the moment though. All in all a very bad day. |
Your current employers should give you all the motivation needed, and knowing what's required should be a great help for S2 next year.
Don't dwell on it, last year I didn't get through because I failed the OPQ, that was a kick in the teeth but I've dusted myself off and got back to it this year. There's no point worrying about S2, you could have failed it by a mark, or by a mile, impossible to tell. Just be aware of it next year and do everything you can to ready yourself for it. Best of luck. |
Hatemyjob
Sorry to hear you didn't get through. Know its horrible when you get the news. If its any consolation lots of people don't get through first time (myself included) and go on to be a controller. Just make sure you reapply as soon as you can. Believe me, this job is worth the hassle you go through to get it. Ignore the negative postings on here about ATC and the job. I would say 99.9% love it and wouldn't swap it for anything Good luck |
Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, don't think I'm even gonna make stage 1 this year :{ thought I was prepared for the testing then just totally £$%"*& up the SHL tests. I did better last year in the classroom environment. Ah well always next year and another year to try and train myself to react better under pressure :suspect:
|
Wazzer....what makes you think you didn't do very well??
|
CJayne,
Just got caught out on a few of the checking questions, as I clicked on some of them I realised it wasn't correct. On the maths ones I started poorly by trying to write the question down and work it out, once I realised that they weren't that taxing I did them in my head and found that quicker and easier. Really thought I had done poorly but have just received an email inviting me to stage 1 so maybe not as bad as I feared :) |
