Glasgow Stage 3 Dates
Hi all,
I am currently waiting for a stage 3 date to become available in Glasgow. I phoned NATS this week and they said the next date will be March 30th. I can't be bothered having to wait all that time and I was just wondering if there is anyone else in Scotland on the same boat. If so PM me and let me know what your plans are. Gogz |
Russell, what you thinking? HAHA!
|
Stage 3 results came through and i'm IN woooo, thankyou to EVERYBODY on here that has been a huge help and I would have been nowhere near as prepared as I was if it wasn't for this thread.
Thanks again and good luck to all!!! |
Stage 3 prep
Many congrats jack.raven, hopefully ill be joining you after next week:sad:
in preparation for my S3 i have been thinking of recent events one of which is BA flight 38 last year. as i understand it after a few hours the runway re-opened for departing aircraft, however would the airport have re-opened if that was the only runway? in my mind i would say no, because safety should be the number one priorty, and if it has happened once with no warning then it could happen again, which could result in deaths if there is already an aircraft lying there, therfore best to wait until it has been moved. however, this would result in huge delays and losses of many thousands of pounds, especially if it took days to move it. As far as i am aware, BA38 has been the only accident of this kind in the UK, which makes it impossible to compare incidents. the only similar thing was kegworth, but that plane didnt even make the permeter so not really a factor. Would my answer be seen as being too safe, is there such a thing? shugs |
Russell
Damn, things must move really fast in your world! I barely said two sentences to the guy.
Either that. Or there's been a real drought, of late. ;) |

Fingers are crossed for Friday. jx :)

well done jack.raven
I am surprised jack.raven has been made aware of the results of his stage 3 before me. As of yet, I am still to find out my result. I participated in the stage 3 process one whole week before jack.raven did!
|
I don't think there is any rhyme or reason when it comes to stage 3 results. My 15 working days are up tomorrow! I spoke to NATS last week and they just said they would let me know by the end of tomorrow!
I have heard of a lot of people going over the 15 working days, when NATS were spoken to they 'forgot' to tell them. Those people got through so as the old saying goes, no news is and can be good news! Although it is :ugh::ugh::ugh: |
shugs,
I got pretty much that exact scenario in my s3 (it was hypothetically southampton so only one runway). The ATCO kept asking me if I was going to reopen the runway, even once everyone was out, debris cleared and fuel offloaded etc, and even if the last 100m of the runway were off limits and aircraft were taking off away from the crash. I kept saying no (he was ridiculously pressuring.. I almost caved)... but kept saying safety first and all that, and used an example I'd seen on a tower visit to Machester to say that there's always room for pilot error (if he ignored the 100m, turned round and clipped a wing and caused even more disaster they'd never believe you opened the runway...). You're then having aircraft take off downwind which causes even more risks... I got through, so I'd say stick to the safety aspect, but give a reason how you think the situation could compromise safety. Good luck, you're sounding pretty damn prepared :) Abi |

Well done Raven! My 15 days will be up on Saturday. I hope to hear by tomorrow but if not then it will likely be Monday. If not by Monday noon then I will give them a call. Did anyone else here have their Stage 3 on 23 Jan?
babyjxxx - Yes, things do move quickly these days... HAHA! There are still only 3 people who have guessed. |
this may seem a rediculous question, but had my stage 1 on 23rd January, and eagerly awaiting the results. Is the 15 day wait 15 working days (as in 3 weeks) or just 15 days including weekends?
Thanks :ok: |
Hi error 1234,
I think that the assessor actually said 15 "working" days, I remember that because I told myself that it meant a long time to wait!! Cheers, Alann |
okay, thanks, still over a week to go then...
thanks for your help |
Error1234...I was there on the 23rd... and still waiting too!
|
Ditto - Same here.

Hi all, New user to this forum, been looking through it and is very interesting.
I have My stage 1 in Manchester on Friday 13th of this month, anyone else got it then? What can I expect after Stage 1? and how many people usually get through? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |
Hi ajfaccini,
If you pass Stage 1, an online personality questionnaire, and if you pass that, Stage 2. There is no 'set number' of people to get through Stage 1 - if everyone gets marks above the pass rate, you all go through; if no-one gets the mark, no-one goes through. Simple. And I don't know what the pass rate is, and I'm not sure if anyone else does either - sorry... |
Hey PDF
I was on the same stage 3 as you and still waiting for my results. Will hopefully have the results today, if not I look forward to another long weekend, but as you say i guess no news is good news, but i would really just like to have the news now. good luck |
stage 3
prof1 there are 6 of us at glasgow on 11th!!
good luck:ok: |
Hello Nick!
Still no news ? I haven't heard anything either..Good luck though! Paul |
Was in London on the 23rd also and I am awaiting results too. Kind of accepted that its 15 working days which means another week or so.
Dunno if not hearing is good or bad news? Perhaps its indifferent news. Fingers, toes, legs, arms and eyes all crossed. Still unsure about my performance with the cubes. I guess time will tell. Incidently, anyone in the PM session on the 23rd who sat the Diagramming ansd Cubes paper first, did I hear correctly that the guy said you could now reapply after 6 months rather than 12? Not that I am planning to fail, but it would be useful to know. |
I was in manc on the 26th jan and the guy told us it was a year before re-applying, im still waiting for my stage 1 results aswell.
|
Hey Paul
Havent heard anything, called them up today because there was a mix up with my stage 2 and they hadnt sent it out and i asked if the same thing had happened, but still no luck. They said to call after Monday if I havent heard. |
Stage 1 Fri 13th!
Hi,
I have my Stage 1 next Friday (the 13th!) in Manchester. Im travelling down from the North East for the afternoon session. Anyone else in the same boat? |
Nick,
I called as well and kind of got fobbed off by HR pretty much saying the same as you. I got told to try after Monday! :* |
I did my Eurocontrol-tests in Norway.
Sounds strange with all the waiting.... When I did my FEAST1 I got the result via e-mail a few hours later.. After stage 2 I got the response after 2 days. The final "your'e admitted" message came - I think - about 5-6 days after my interview. /TH PS: Just to clarify, I'm training with Avinor not NATS. |
I phoned HR today to find out if the interviewer meant 10 - 15 'normal' days or 'working' days to which she replied 'working' days. She then said that I should find out early next week, but lo and behold an hour or so later I received an email from NATS giving me the good news that I have passed. Just need to do the medical, then I'm done. I know it's not final until the medical has been passed so not getting too excited just yet.
Good luck to everyone else, will let you guys know what date I have been given to start when I know them... |
Well done ATC Noob! There are slots open in April they tell me, I am busy then so starting in June/July. Maybe see you there!?
|
Cheers raven! Wow, I didn't know there were slots in April... :S I wouldn't be able to make them either, need to organise things as I'm sure you can relate. Fortunately I live in Bournemouth anyways so accomodation won't be a problem - except affording it... :/
I don't know yet which course I'll be on. I can do July, but I was told that October is more likely. Where do you live raven? |
Currently near cambridge area, going to have to move on up to bournemouth, not sure where i'm going to stay B&B seems the normal option?
|
Yes, it seems B&B is the common choice. I live two roads away from where the current trainees are living. Some of them anyway. If you need any help with finding accomodation give me a shout, I know the area quite well so...
Coming quite a distance from Cambridge. My mother-in-law lives there, had a 5 hour drive there for Xmas. Hopefully won't have to do it again... |
For anyone looking at start dates- course 219 is split- aerodrome starts at the end of april and area the beginning of may (6th). I've asked about 220 but they won't know the dates for a while, but might be another split with aerodrome starting late july, area early august.
I'll see people there in august if so :ok: |
Unless the college has a re-jig of dates and courses to allow area and aerdrome to start at the same time, it is likely to continue to being split. 216 (July 08) was the last "joint start" and it was problems in the area sims and lack of instructors for 216 basic that caused a back log and thus area 217 was put back a month, whilst aerodrome 217 could start as planned.
That is why there is now this split, and I don't see them being able to go back to the joint starts unless they have a serious fiddle around with the timetable to make up the lost time. |
As far as I know, everyone's been assigned to the April/May courses (that was according to HR about 2-3 weeks ago), so for anyone getting their results of Stage 3 around now, I wouldn't be getting my hopes up if I were you!
I'm currently on list for July/August - still a fair few places and it doesn't look like you'll be bumped to October unless you want to be... Well done to those who've passed Stage 3 recently - I passed my medical on Friday so now I can relax! |
Atcnoob
Yeah near the time I will love any accomodation tips I can get!! Thankyou wow seems like there is four of us who have recently found out on here allready :) |
jack.raven
Okay just let me know. :) Who else has found out on here recently? I must have missed other posts.
For those who have gone through the recruitment process and failed once or twice; don't give up! I got through on the third and final attempt so...Keep going for it!!! |
Glasgow Girl / Shugs
Yes, did you also get the phonecall from HR about the opportunity to swap dates? There'll be 6 of us unless anyone decided to go to Manchester - I'll still be at Glasgow.
See you on Wednesday and good luck... |
Start Dates
Hey guys,
I finished my medicals a few weeks back now, and everything has been sent off to HR. How long are people generally waiting to find out a start date. Again, some of the other guys have been offered places on courses without even getting a NATS medical over and done with.... Sure, it's only a conditional placement, but it is a placement. I am wondering if I should phone them up, just incase they have forgotten about me (again =( - they lost my paperwork after S3 and I had to wait the full, painstaking 15 days) Anyone have any idea if it is normal to be waiting this long after passing everything I possibly could pass in preparation for the course :P Cheers, Andy |
