It is really starting to drag now. I know its been barely no time in comparison to others, but it's not a nice feeling not knowing.

Stage 2 is exactly that, FEAST and NATS tests. They are fairly challenging. Really have to concentrate. Not something I think you could really prepare for at all. Let us know how you get on, when you eventually book a date!

Hey guys got my first test early next month, quick question does the test end at the specified end time? Just trying to organise flights cheers

HeaVn 12th September 2012 21:28

Did you take the strip display management test LGW08 or has it been replaced by the Dart test ?

Danstrolie 13th September 2012 12:23

Hello, I have my Stage 1 on the 26th and have been trying to work out what I need to learn. I found a post waaay back on page 22 (http://www.pprune.org/3480230-post436.html) and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if much has changed since that guy did the tests?
It's the link to the SHL site that has thrown me off because I haven't actually seen any mention of what type of SHL tests, if any, are used in stage 1.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Done the first stage this morning! It will be interesting to see the results. Good luck to everyone!

hello,

Im due to take my phase 1 interview at the beginning of next month. Has anyone got any information regarding the numeracy test? what level math is required? any information would be much appreciated.

thanks

dodgygearbox 14th September 2012 08:39

logex: get a train from London to Southampton - National Rail Enquiries - Official source for UK train times and timetables
can get them cheaper if you book in advance.

t2522: practice your Speed/distance/time equations and you'll be golden.

Just got back home after going to the Stage 1 Assessment (Nice 300 mile round trip starting at 7:15am!) and i'm not really sure how to feel...

I did the first paper, then I reckon >50% got sent home, as there was only about 15 - 20 people left out of about 40 - 45. (Obviously, I was happy I passed this bit).

The 2nd & 3rd papers I thought were quite challenging, but I may have done better than I think...who knows?! - I guess i'll find out in about 2 weeks.

Good Luck to anyone still to take the tests...and make sure you do revise is my only tip!

MattTheBhoy 14th September 2012 17:24

Hello

Any pointers about what was asked in this exam? I visited ATC in Belfast and got pointers but they are unsure about what will be asked

MattTheBhoy 14th September 2012 17:27

Hey

Sitting the stage one test on the same day. I went to ATC in Belfast and they helped me prepare but they said go through the notes sent in the email and you should be fine.

mishaastaroth 14th September 2012 17:43

Good luck! I hope you pass. I'm going to stage one on the 26th so if you don't mind me asking questions here I go... the first paper is it about the theory they give you? Does anyone know how much time do they give you for the arithmetic problems?

therealist 14th September 2012 20:23

were you in the morning or afternoon session scott?

Just got back to Cambridge myself after sitting stage 1 this afternoon.....

Found the first 2 tests really easy (ATC and Numeracy) and was really shocked to see nearly 50% of the people failing.... as long as you can do basic S/D/T and spend a reasonable amount of time on test booklet you will be more than fine....

On the 2nd part- diagramming and cubes, I found the cubes in particular hard, not so much the work but more how little time we had to answer! Only managed to answer 36 out of 50 on diagramming and 26 out of 40 on cubes! anyone know if this is common as think most of other guys around me suffered same problem....

Good luck all!

mts1 14th September 2012 20:45

PinOnTheRight: hey... you are right!, I thought you were kinda kiddin when I read your thread. I also had a subscrption with them, but hadn't logged in for quite a while but was planning to do so when I get my dates for the test!. Bunch of crooks. If I find out anything I'll let you know.

Scott C: well things must¡ve definitely changed... When I last took the test back in 2010 we started of with a test on the literature followed by the numerical one. If you passed these two, you were then tested on the remaining tests of stage one, otherwise, you were asked to leave. But I can recall that out of about 30 people, only 3 or 4 failed the numerical/literature. And you say that over 50% didn't pass the first part?, stone the crows. Which by the way, both literature and numerical is one test now, isn't it?

mishaastaroth: it used to be 20 q' in 5 minutes. You werent expected to answer them all. People usually passed no prob. But now, I dunno. According to Scott C, things seem to have hardened up.

logex 14th September 2012 22:05

I don't think that literature is still in..

NATS stage 1

Hi all,
did my stage 1 today. I agree with the above, almost 50% got 'invited to leave' (love that phrase) after the first test paper on the material already given in the invitation e-mail.
There are no suprises, if you learn and practice everything they give you then you've got a chance! I too found it got pretty tough on the last test. Hope I did better than it felt. Also, we were finished and out about 30 mins quicker than stated end time.
thanks and good luck all

mishaastaroth 14th September 2012 23:39

If I have to do 20 problems in 5 min ....I'm doomed!
Do they give you a blank sheet to do the operations?
