Hi, yeh the numerical reasoning test, for me anyways, covered distance/speed/time questions and simple compass bearing questions. You sit 2 tests then they mark them and if you were successful you will be invited to sit the last 2. I'm pretty sure the terminology they used was consistent through the questions but its a bit hazy now :*

I think they say the dress-code is smart casual, but on the day I was there, there was 30 people most looking smart, shirt an trousers, some with ties, but think there were 1 or 2 people in jeans but looking smart. The questions they can ask from the 25 page booklet can be anything, seriously, anything lol. I knew I should have known a couple of the answers when I did it, and I could even remember the section they were from but I didn't know for sure. They will ask questions on the aircraft, city distances and then anything from the booklet.

Nats College

Hello Sharmanatur/ Everyone

I would like to ask you some questions regarding Nats college:

1- Do you know more or less the dates to attend the selection process along the year?

2- How long does the selection process last from the stage 1 to the end of the selection process more or less? one month?

3- Does Nats get you a job as a ATCO upon you finish the whole course and achieve the license? Because at Eurocontrol after achieving the license you still have to face some exams so that you can get your own job..

Thank you in advance!

Hi Michael,

Natsīs selection process

Thanks for replying sharmantor.

Does anybody know if it is possible to take the whole selection process at once, instead of taking one stage each two or three months? The fact is that, Iīd like to take whole recruitment process running, this is to say, whithout any gap between the stages..

Thanks all,

Michael

Sharmanat0r 6th September 2010 15:53

well each time you pass a stage, NATS email you with a link where you can see the next available dates for the next stage. For stage 1 i was able to select dates from 2 weeks away up to 8 weeks away, and for stage 2 i was able to see dates 4 weeks away all the way to Christmas, 16ish weeks away, but you only get to see the dates as you pass each part. You could probably do it all pretty quick if you wanted to

Natsīs selection process

Thanks Sharmanator.

I said that because is a bit uncomfortable having to go and come all the time from your home country which is my case. Then, I will try. How long have you been getting ready for the recruitment process? I would say that 3 months are enough for somebody to pass the whole recruitment process. Am I wrong? Thanks all..

Just quickly, do the stage one numerical tests allow you to use a pen and paper to work out the equations?

Natsīs selection process

Good morning everyone!

I am new here so I always have doubts to ask:

Can anybody explain to me what SHL consist of?

Is it possible to practice th numerical test before the real one to have an idea?

Cheers mates!

Stage 1

I have read in numberous threads posted on here that in the ATC paper, you will be asked about city distances.

In the 25 page document I was sent by NATS to learn for the assessment there is no information regarding city distances.

Does anyone have any good websites I can get this information from?

Thanks

Steph

Start Date

I had originally heard I was starting in July and then got an email today saying I was starting 229 Area in November. I got accepted in June this year so its a bit of a long wait until next November!! When did you apply?

CJShields 8th September 2010 12:04

Was offered 227 in March but decided to do an MEng so I have been allocated Aero 228 starting June 2011. Anyone else out there on this course? I know there are generally Face book groups, do we set these up ourselves or do NATS?

It takes a whole year for you to get another shot at it and you have a maximum of 3 attempts so why not wait till u've done enough study? It will be well worth re-scheduling if you don't feel prepared enough!!

Logi8ear 9th September 2010 13:33

Im another at Prestwick tomorrow afternoon for stage one :), if anyone fancies a chat give me a pm
