SKOS,
Could that be 'Simple Knowledge Organization Systems' by any chance?
You ask quite a few questions on this forum, but have yet to share with us any of your own experiences of the 'NATS interview process'.
Go ahead, over.........:E

Hey folks, booked my stage 2 for December 6th, anyone else going then? I know its agesssss away lol!

I'm just looking into flights and accommodation, gonna fly into Bournsmouth airport but need to stay 2 nights due to flight times, but im pretty broke and was hoping someone who knew the area a bit might know a dirt cheap place to stay not too far away ;) thanks in advance!

The Bournemouth college is just right beside the airport?

@ dcp359/sportzbar

Have just got back off holiday and done the personality thing and booked my stage 3. End of November at Swanwick was the earliest available without going to Scotland. Have you booked yours??

@WbATC

Hope yours went well.

Jonathan1989 2nd September 2010 12:35

I have my stage 3 at prestwick on the 29th september. I have a few questions.

Is it necessary to arrange a visit of a site before the interview? Is there anyone out there who didnt visit a site and got through?

What tests do you have to do at the medical? If I am not particularly fit is it something to worry about?

Any other details about stage 3 in general would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Chippy5687 2nd September 2010 16:02

I would strongly recommend that you book a site visit before your stage 3. This way you can really see what the job is about and it will really help you answer some of the questions. Plus it shows that you are willing to go that little bit further for the job i.e. you've used your own initiative and done your own research. Not only will it really aid you in the interview it is also a really good opportunity and lots of fun! I went to Heathrow which was just awesome! I got to plug in and listen to all communications for as long as I wanted. I also had a tour of swanwick the day before which was good for asking last minute questions.

As for the medical - you aren't required to do any fitness things other than blowing into a tube to measure your peak flow. Your height and weight are also taken but I wouldnt worry too much about being fit - I'm not and it didnt affect me!

Jonathan1989 2nd September 2010 18:39

Ok so how would I go about organising a visit? Would it be more useful to visit a tower or Swanwick?

Also is there now no technical element to stage 3? So is there any point in reading books on Air Traffic Control?

lowlevelowl 2nd September 2010 19:00

Jonathan, you sound well keen! Sort yourself a visit off your own back and do some reading. It's definitely worth it, stage 3 is tough.

freedo50 2nd September 2010 21:27

@sharmanat0r Hey, I've got my stage 2 on the 8th of this month - i.e. 1 week (ish). I've bought the SkyTest disc and and am really struggling to understand the often contradictory instructions of the SDM test :ugh:, which I have basically given up on practising, as well as the co-ordinate system test, where I'm finding it takes me at least 10 seconds to read and process the question. My available answer time? 10 seconds...

Anyone also possess this abomination of a piece of software who can give me some advice?

Cheers,
Fred

Nats interview process

Dear all,

I am a spanish guy really interested in attending the selection process of Nats college in bmouth. I am really motivated to do this but at the same time I fear to fail the selection process for the difficulty of all of this. This is why, I would like to ask you a few questions regarding Nats selection process:

Do you know more or less how long the selection process last? because I think I am going to attend the first stage in january...then, I guess I would know the results of all the stages by the end of january already. By the way, do you know the dates to attend the selection process in bmouth?

Does Nats college allocate you automatically to some airport to work as an ATCO upon you have finished the course at Nats college in bmouth?

Do you know more or less how much money It would cost me, in case I passed through the selection process, the whole course at Nats college?

Thanks so much in advance

Regards,

Michael

gconatyuk 5th September 2010 13:36

I have a quick question regarding the NATS Stage One Assessment as i've noticed that the recruitment process seems to have changed slightly since i last considered applying to become a Trainee ATCO. As i understand it the Stage One Assessment now begins with the ATC Test followed by a numerical reasoning test.

Can anyone confirm whether or not the numerical reasoning test covers mathematics in general or if it is solely restricted to speed/distance/time calculations?

Also, are questions given in both mph/miles and kmph/km?

If i have understood the NATS website those who are successful at these two stages are then invited to take the spacial and diagramatic tests. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance.

Nats Stage 1 - Shl

I have my NATS Stage 1 assessment coming up soon.

I have been onto the SHL website and find the example tests difficult to do without using a calculator.

Could someone who has recently been through the stage 1 process explain wether or not the stage 1 tests are anything like the SHL tests?
