By the way, I think it would help a lot of people if any recent Stage 3'ers would post what they were asked in their interview, as I've been chatting to a few people through here who failed at that stage and it seems they were not fully aware of what was going to be asked.
It's quite a while since I passed my S3 so my advice may be a little out of date!

I think that's the general idea of an interview is it not?

Quick question does an invite to take the online personality test constitute as a pass.

Thanks

Other test in Stage 2

Hi everyone there.

I forgot to explain a kind of test you'll find in Stage 2 too. (thanks Orangoat for reminding me).

I think is called divided attention.
It's a test where you have to pay attention to differents windows where a ball and a kind of wall appears and, you have to push the button number that corresponds with the window where the ball and the wall collides.

The ball describes different kind of curves or straight lines, but it's quite easy (from my point of view).

Cheers.

Stage 3

Does anyone have a good number for HR? I need to book a date for my Stage 3 but the number I have has gone straight to voicemail for the last 3 consecutive days. This is important so please let me know if you have a working number. Thanks.

I had my Stage 3 in Bournemouth on 22nd April and one of the chaps interviewing explicitly said not to discuss what we had been asked in the interview. I think if you read back over the forum and the NATS Stage 3 PDF document you get a fair idea as what to type of questions asked. What I will say is that it is quite intense and they ask lots of questions about your examples!

Still waiting for the result!

Captain Penguin 4th May 2010 21:35

T6MCX: Yeah I would say so, especially if you got it today! Congrats on passing Stage 1 mate, I got my rejection email today so won't see you there but best of luck :)

T6MCX 5th May 2010 06:45

Penguin - sorry to here that but good luck in whatever you choose to do.

Question for people who have took the personality test is it timed if so how long. I don't really know what to expect am I right in thinking it is just a laid back questionaire finding who you are ?

Thanks

Conratulations on passing stage 1. The personality tests are not timed but they do reccommend that you answer as quickly as possible. Do give yourself enough time and no distractions as you do need to concentrate. Just answer honestly and you will be fine. Good luck with it.
Penguin - sorry to hear that but don't give up , failed at stage 1 first time , next 2 attempts I got to stage 3.

Murphy23 5th May 2010 14:48

Well I just got my email for my stage 3 reults...

I failed :( kind of expecting it tbh though. Everything I said just sounded so wrong as soon as I said it.

Still there is always next year I guess. Last attempt for me.

Good luck to anyone else trying.

mightygoose 5th May 2010 17:58

had my stage 1 at whiteley today, challenging tests. now just have to wait the fifteen days.

ml113558 5th May 2010 18:11

How did you find the 3D cubes?

globemaster50 5th May 2010 19:20

Hi, were you in Bournemouth on 22nd April too? Think you may be Andy?

Just had the dreaded email too saying I have failed stage 3. Think it may be because I took a bit of a back seat in the group exercise and some of my examples were a bit weak. Oh well, at least I tried :(

David

T6MCX 5th May 2010 20:05

GlobeMaster -

Sorry to hear of your result. When you say you think your examples were weak, if you don't mind could you give me an example of one of the questions and one of your answers ?

Thanks

ADD - Preferably an answer from the question not one of each ha :ugh:

bulletsamurai 6th May 2010 08:21

Hi guys,

I'd like to arrange a visit Prestwick before my Stage 3 but I'm having no luck in getting a response from HR to my emails. Would anybody with an HR telephone number be able to PM it to me please?

Thanks!

killua 6th May 2010 08:40

bulletsamurai, I think the way to go is to phone directly manager of the facility you want to visit. HR has nothing to do with it.

Deckard33 6th May 2010 09:53

Killau said scrap paper was available for the cubes in stage one, whch is how I prepared for it (thanks dude). It is not. :=

killua 6th May 2010 10:15

Sorry, but I read on this forum that it was available. I haven't been to S1 yet so maybe I shouldn't say anything I didn't know for sure. Sorry again. (now that I see my posts I see you have asked for cubes part of the S1, and it is provided for diagramming and numeracy, but not for cubes).

Anyhow, how did it go?

T6MCX 6th May 2010 12:06

Hi,

Regarding pay its says on the website that on your third joining anniversary you fully qualify as an ATC is this from the date of training as in join jan 2010 fully qual jan 2013 subject to validation. Or is it from when you join your unit ?

Thanks

Deckard33 6th May 2010 18:28

Well I got through the first cut. Diagraming was ok but the cubes were nasty. All in all a good day. Nats centre at Swanwick is an impressive facility from what I saw and the people we saw floating around were friendly and relaxed. Looks like a good place to work to me. Fingers crossed.

Had my stage 3 on the 21st April..Recently got a email saying i'd passed!
Anyone due to start in January? - if so...PM me!
Cheers

jenga-jen 6th May 2010 23:03

OneStep - are you going for area or aerodrome?

Also, had my S2 the other day and got my e-mail saying I'd to take the Occupational Personality Questionnaire and they'd forward details for the next step. I'm assuming like S1 that this is the only indication you've passed?!

Or am I being optimistic?

If this does mean I've passed, the fear of S3 can set in properly :)

Aplicant for ATC in Maastricht

A few months ago I have sent the aplication form completed for ATC student in Maastricht.I sent them also the diplomas and a completed form of the visual certification of performance. The replied to me and a few days ago they informed me that i'll go for the testing in Maastricht but I will have to wait for a date. Can someone tell me more about the testing? What does it consist of? What kind of questions should I expect? Will the interview be on the same day of the testing? How can I prepair for it? Please if someone can inform me preciosely i will appreciate it a lot. :)

OnEsTeP 7th May 2010 14:40

jENGA-JEN.

Not to sure yet, perhaps leaning towards aerodrome?..
You can fail the personality questionnaire so beware!
All the best

hammerthrower 7th May 2010 18:37

I'd be going to Glasgow Uni, and I'm scottish so no tuition fee's or much debt. I understand what your saying and it's much appreciated! Still got another year left at school anyway so plenty time to make up my mind. Cheers everyone though! Its much appreciated :)

hammerthrower.

btw as for the name, I am a Hammer thrower as in the athletics event lol

cheers :)

killua 9th May 2010 14:07

Hi guys, I have a question. I haven't been able to find it in old posts.

What is the best way to come to Whiteley from Fareham train station?

Thanks

eglnyt 9th May 2010 15:12

Fareham to Whiteley

Your have four options

Taxi, most expensive but most likely to get you there
Bus, cheapest but finding out the times and where the bus goes from may be difficult. (First Group timetables are available on line if you do a bit of research)
Train to Swanwick and then walk (25 minutes walk from Swanwick station, instructions are in a much earlier posting in this thread)
Train to Swanwick and then taxi

killua 9th May 2010 15:21

Thanks man. I think I will see if my train stops at swanwick, if not, then I will take bus to whiteley.

EDIT: One more question. Is checking a part of S1. When I read reports from S1 some of you mention it, while some of you don't?

AfterDinnerBurner 10th May 2010 11:27

no checking on part 1, 4 tests, maths, motivation, cubes, diagramming....home time.

mightygoose 10th May 2010 17:45

round one success

i found the 3D cubes ok, similiar to ones found in the mensa testing protocols.

got the email today saying i had passed round one and now have to sit a Bio-data Personality Questionnaire. am more worried about this than the non verbal reasoning questions. any big pitfalls i shoulod avoid before sitting it?

cheapaschips1000 10th May 2010 17:53

I wouldn't worry too much, they're all very basic questions in the personality test. Just be honest and consistent. If you know your own personality you've nothing to worry about.

mightygoose 10th May 2010 18:08

cheers i'll sit and do it tomorrow.

Mikeygsxr1k 11th May 2010 12:18

Hey guys.

Sat the Stage 1 at Prestwick on the 30th and got an invite to Stage 2. Didn't want to post anything until I was in the system. This forum has been a great help with some great links to practice with. Thanks.

Gaz, hope you passed as well mate. If so, shoot me an email and I'll head down to Fareham when you book it.

Captain Penguin 11th May 2010 13:19

Cheers for the consolation messages :) Think I'm going to get a job in the subject I did at uni (graphic design) and start flying lessons again to get an NPPL(M) as the NATS thing rekindled my interest in aviation. Whoever said you don't get scrap paper for the cubes: I did Stage 1 at NATS CTC and we were given scrap paper, don't know if its changed in the last month?

T6MCX 11th May 2010 21:06

Penguin -

If I remember correctly you hand your scrap paper in before the cubes and columns.

T6MCX 12th May 2010 07:28

Does anyone no what sort of contract your offered after training/validation if any. Is there is any minimum timed to served ?

Cheers

al.bundy 12th May 2010 08:19

I have a document from 2006 that says that you can leave when you finish training. I don't know if anything's changed.

EDIT:

T6MCX 12th May 2010 08:45

Hmm seems wierd with how expensive training is ? Thanks for the reply

Anyone know if this is still the case ?

paperclip810 12th May 2010 19:25

It's still the same - you can leave NATS whenever you like, with whatever training, licences, ratings, etc that you hold at that time.

Captain Penguin 12th May 2010 20:47

T6MCX: By columns do you mean the diagramming stuff? As I remember drawing some of the tougher ones on scrap paper.
