Location specific perhaps? Whatever the reason it's very much the exception than the rule.

Number2 is the fourth person I know from the same facility who was hired from Enroute to Approach. Of those four they went to three different posts.

Any news about this process? Anybody got contacted after applying?

Was invited to do the online testing which I did somewhen last week. Received an email last wednesday saying that I met their requirements and that a behavioural interview would be conducted somewhen in September...

Similar to above. Applied in July, completed online tests, now a behavioural interview in September.

You will get an email saying thank you but sorry... The tests in my opinion is a crock of sh&t.... Simply can't see how phyc tests determine if I'll be a good ATCO who an obey rules and do my job properly. After 15 years plus experience as an ATCO in 4 different places all over the world with traffic levels varying from medium to very busy and complex in all the different disciplines I think I have the ability to adapt well and do my job properly. Well done to those who made it to the next round an good luck... Regards

I fully agree with you. Those tests are not necessarily good to filter the most suitable candidates. Nevertheless it seems to be the only way to do a preselection in order to avoid inviting all applicants for personal interviews. Those tests are conducted in other countries, too. Saves a lot of money to the company. And you as an experienced ATCO feel like shxt going through all this again.

I think an invite to do a practical assessment would do better but yes it will cost the company a fortune. Thing is I really wanted this badly and still do. I'm even prepared to pay my own way to get there and do a practical. But I guess it's not meant to be. Sad though. Such is life. Good luck to the guys through to next stage.

I know Dubai had them but canned it and went back to inviting candidates for APCs and interviews....

Hi guys, have just had response that i've met requirements from the online tests for Airservices Australia and am waiting for my phone interview. Little bit disillusioned by some of the posts on this thread that i'm doing the right thing moving from UK ANSP to Aus...is there anyone that has taken this route within the last few years and can give me a realistic comparison between the two. Obviously when you work within a company, there are many opportunities for certain personality types to grumble about all aspects of working conditions, management etc, this tends to be what we do as humans (i know we do it here, despite the fact that we really don't have it bad). Personally, i think the industry has changed exponentially over the last few years and many people have issues with the new direction. Me, I look at my educational history and praise and celebrate the fact that, yes with lots of hard work and dedication, i have stumbled across a job which i love and enjoy so much. It pays well, i get fantastic family time and generally have an amazing quality of life. I'm privileged to be where i am. Admittedly there are things which frustrate me about the position i sometimes feel i'm placed in by management decisions, but i keep my nose clean, realise things change, and just keep pace.
Enjoy the position you're in guys, it's not a right, it's a job and you have to keep up the professionalism - take the rough with the smooth....you'll be much happier for it.

I also had the congrats email recently and now waiting for the phone interview. I totally agree with you Mr. 24609... Quite a few of the posts in this threat are a bit disheartening. Looking forward to reading the insight of anyone that has taken the leap to Oz. Good luck guys.

I did my online tests last Friday(15th) but I haven't received news if I passed or failed yet. Is this normal to wait a week for results? I would've thought as it was an online test that there would be a required standard to meet and it would be an instant process to inform you if you had met that standard or not. It did feel strange and a little annoying having to do those tests again but like the previous poster wrote - you have to take the rough with the smooth.

I took an experienced controller position with ASA a few years ago. I guess all areas of the ANSP will be different but the team I work with are excellent. Each ANSP seems to have its share of grumblers attached with golden handcuffs and they tend to be the most vocal on sites like these.

To those looking at ASA as an option, take opinions posted here with a grain of salt. ASA is just another ANSP. It sure beats working in the real world for a living.

agree with 24609. Some posts on here, particularly in the beginning were quite negative and would have been easy to doubt a move to Oz was the right option. However, it does seem to be the same naysayers (which the UK most definitely has itself). The job is the job and i think you'll stumble across both new and the same issues/opportunities as you do back home. Which leaves the only variable in my mind of whether i want to live in Australia or not. I dont think anyone of us would have applied if that probably wasnt the most appealing factor in all of this

I got the email for the online testing. Just wanted to post it so that anyone that hasn´t still received any news doesn´t lose Hope (in Spain, that´s the last thing you want to lose always ...).

Now, let´s see if I can find a quiet morning, with the kids at school and the wife shopping, so I can relax and take the online tests.
