Lssar, I feel you about that quiet time without the kiddos. I put all three of ours to bed early that night, relaxed with a cup of coffee, and then took my time getting through the test. It's the cognitive abilities test you're talking about; right? It is pretty tough, but in a way, it's actually kind of fun. Ha. Don't worry too much about trying to get 100% right, just do the best you can.

BTW, I'm also an international applicant. I made it passed the cognitive assessment last month, took the occupational personality test last week, and now I have my behavioral interview scheduled for this week. It's looks like they are contacting us in batches.

Hope you do well on the test, Lssar.

Lssar 15th Sep 2014 16:06

Thanks for the advice, gfosty! Yes, it´s that test the one that is waiting for me as soon as a can find a good moment (maybe next weekend: my wife is going to the beach and I´ll be left behind ´cause of work).

Congratulations for the phases you already left behind, and all the best for your next behavioral interview this week! I´ll probably send you a PM with some questions, if you don´t mind.

Good luck!

Cleared For A Coffee 15th Sep 2014 16:23

Ridiculous that you have to complete aptitude tests for a job you already do...

WhichWayIsNorth 15th Sep 2014 19:39

Good luck guys:ok: It is a long process. Just to give you an idea, I was invited for online testing in the beginning of March this year and received my official offer last week (Verbal offer about 3 weeks ago), so that's about 6 months for the recruitment process (From online testing to letter of offer).

!turnleftrightnow! 16th Sep 2014 09:27

Hi all!
Behavioural Interview tomorrow at 01:00pm AEST. That makes 07:00am my local time. That is probably the craziest time of the day as kids are getting ready for school etc....
Will be a fun session!

KVOK 16th Sep 2014 09:46

Good luck!! !turnleftrightnow!

Did you choose the time or did they choose it for you? With the kids waking up and all, I am pretty sure you cope utterly well under pressure! :)

You'll do great... I am still waiting to know the date and time of my interview.

All the best guys.

kpnagidi 16th Sep 2014 11:54

Had mine at 7 am too...Fortunately I had a room to lock myself into and the Mrs took care of all three gremlins. Good luck to everyone. If you're there already, who have something they want already. Chin up!

gfosty 16th Sep 2014 17:09

My interview is at 7:30 tonight. My wife and kiddos will be out at the gym to give me some time here to myself.

Thanks for the communication from you all. It's nice to hear from others who are also going through this process. Just curious, where is everyone from?

Lssar 16th Sep 2014 18:00

Good luck to all of you, guys!! All the best for you interviews! I have already contacted with some of you via PM, and I think that you are really very nice people.

Keep us updated!

L.

Capedoctor 17th Sep 2014 16:22

Hi there all

Good luck to anyone going through the process. Did my interview last thursday and recieved my e-mail today for referee checks. Hopefully things will move nice and quickly now:O

gfosty 17th Sep 2014 18:56

Capedoctor,

Man, that's awesome. Maybe you'll have an offer before you know it.

So you literally found out your results within a week? Nice. Were you contacted by email or over the phone to let you know the results of your interview?

Capedoctor 17th Sep 2014 19:45

Gfosty

Email and on their website

!turnleftrightnow! 18th Sep 2014 05:11

@ Capedoctor

So you had the Line Manager Interview and not the Behavioural Interview, right?
Or did they skip the steps inbetween?

"1. Online application
2. Online cognitive ability assessments
3. Assessment of documentation and preliminary Training Needs Analysis
4. Occupational Personality Questionnaire
5. Interview
6. Spatial, diagrammatic and verification supervised testing
7. Line Manager Interview
8. Reference Checks
9. Pre-employment medical and security checks"

Lssar 2nd Oct 2014 09:31

Alea jacta est!

Did my online assesment, waiting for results. Once again, thank you to all of those that helped with info.

I'll be back once the veredict is known.

Dió!

gfosty 5th Oct 2014 15:56

Lsaar, I hope you get good news soon about your test!

I got an email last week that I passed the interview and now AsA will be contacting my references. My guess is that it will be a few more weeks before I will see another email. Just waiting patiently with anticipation. :)

Anyone else get new updates from AsA???

Lssar 7th Oct 2014 18:26

@ gfosty

Thanks, gfosty!

Indeed soon enough: got the email this morning, I'm still in the race! I passed the online abilities testing, now time to wait and see if I progress any further.

All the best for all those interviews!

Dió!

How to prepare for SHL's personality test (OPQ)

Satellite Man 21st Oct 2014 07:07

Congratulations to all the ATCOs that are still on the race!!!

Does anyone know if Airservices has hired non-native English speakers this time?

Greebson 21st Oct 2014 08:56

Thanks Knackers

hawkeye456 21st Oct 2014 14:05

Has anyone hear anything since going through to references stage?

gfosty 21st Oct 2014 18:57

hawkeye,

One of my referees was contacted last week. I haven't heard anything since. How long ago were yours contacted?

From what I have read from others, it could take a month or two for them to contact us with further information. Maybe it'll be sooner, though - here's to hoping!

WhichWayIsNorth 21st Oct 2014 20:41

I was contacted Just over 2 and half weeks after my references were contacted. Good luck :ok:

hawkeye456 22nd Oct 2014 07:58

hey gfosty,

it was over four weeks ago that they told me referees would be next but i know neither of my referees have been contacted yet

gfosty 22nd Oct 2014 17:43

hawkeye, only one of my referees has been contacted. AsA contacted them by email and set up a call time. That was two weeks after the email saying I had passed the interview stage. Looks like we're sort of on the same timeline. Maybe they'll be contacting your referees any day now.

I'm guessing you're in America; right? Where are you working right now? FAA, DoD, Contract? Just curious.

gfosty 22nd Oct 2014 17:48

Whichwayisnorth, that's good to know! Hoping I hear some good news soon!

Have they given you a date estimate yet as to when they want you in Australia? You're going through the medical & visa process now; right?

WhichWayIsNorth 22nd Oct 2014 18:31

Gfosty, yes already have my start date for mid next year (I asked for a slightly later date). Signed contracts and submitted all my visa and medical documents, now just waiting for CASA and immigration . Rumour has it reference checks mean you are more or less in so maybe I will see you at the college:ok:

Lssar 23rd Oct 2014 14:15

Hi!

This is one for anyone that has any insight as to what is the length of the contract or the visa.

I know that you have to apply for a 402 Training and Research visa, and after the validation the visa changes to a 4-year 457 Temporary Work (skilled) visa.

My question is: What happens after those 4 years??

Is there any chance of getting a permanent contract with Airways, and then a permanent work visa?

L.

gfosty 23rd Oct 2014 14:25

Great question, Lsaar. I've been wondering the same thing, like maybe if we are able to obtain permanent residency or citizenship if we'd be allowed to stay on with AsA.

And Lsaar, do you have your interview soon?

Lssar 23rd Oct 2014 15:41

Hi gofsty!

Did my OPQ this week, now waiting for a reply to see if I progress to the interview. And yes: I felt like I contradicted myself a thousand times in the test!

I guess that if they are happy with your work in those 4 years, they will offer an extension of your contract so you can get another visa, but I didn't find any mention to this matter in their website.

WhichWayIsNorth 23rd Oct 2014 15:47

I did ask them and they basically said they have sponsored people, who meet the requirements, for permanent residency in the past and are willing to in the fufuture. Obviously they aren't willing to give any guarantees though.

gfosty 23rd Oct 2014 18:54

WhichWayIsNorth, even though there are no guarantees, that still sounds pretty good to me. I guess if you are a hard worker and an asset to their company, then THEY would be benefited by keeping you on.

BTW, where are you from or where are you at now? Next summer would be a good time for my family to head to Australia, so maybe, just maybe we will end up at the Learning Academy together. Who knows :ok:

Thanks for all the info.

***Forgot to ask - Have they told you yet what location they'll be sending you to? And at what point do they let you know the location?

gfosty 23rd Oct 2014 18:57

Lsaar,

I felt the same way about that personality questionnaire. I think we all probably do. Ha. Keep us posted about your interview.

Big Colin 24th Oct 2014 13:08

Hi folks.

Just to echo some of the responses on the Visa issue. I asked about this in my interview. I was told, rather bluntly, after 4 years I can apply for PR or go home!

Greebson 24th Oct 2014 13:33

Well got an interview. Can't believe I got through the OPQ.
I thought I looked like a guy that didn't talk or like people
Not sure I'd have passed me

parishiltons 25th Oct 2014 12:40

Agree. **** in the nest then get upset when you're not welcomed back?

Phone interview help

Hey guys, can anyone help me with information on the phone interview?
I've got mine this week. Any help much appreciated! Thanks

MickDundeee 2nd Nov 2014 20:55

Has any one who has got a start date had any info about time at the college over there? Do they provide accomodation does anyone know?

Sounds like im in the same time scale as some of you, just waiting on reference checks, but seems to be taking forever!

kpnagidi 5th Nov 2014 13:15

Academy timeframe

Hi all,

I'm starting a Tower convertion course on Jan 12th (experienced intake). Can anyone advise on what hours to expect at the Academy?

Anyone else on the same course?

Thanks in advance.
