CPDLC ATC call NAT HLA

Hi All,

During the last years I observed some changes in relation to phraseologie in the NAT HLA airspace...

Some written down in Doc.007, some maybe by habit.

My question, do we or don’t we include CPDLC (and/or ADS-C connected) on first contact on HF ?

To be honoust, I can not find anything we are obliged, but I hear it a lot, or from the aircraft of by ATC.

Looking forward to the comments.

To clarify: “Airline X, CPDLC (ADS-C connected), Gander Next, request SELCAL check”

Kind Regards,

Just had a quick look through that doc - my it’s dull. Not a lot of references other than CPDLC still needs a SELCAL check. Experience over the last 11 years is that if we don’t include CPDLC in the initial call the response is likely to be “ABC XXX confirm you’re CPDLC, Shanwick next?” “Affirm”. “Roger, here’s your SELCAL”.

So I just do!

“gander” abc123. Their reply
abc123 I see you are cpdlc shanwick next this is primary secondary is xxxx here’s your selcall.

going west it’s “shanwick” abc 123. Their reply
abc123 pass your message
shanwick abc123 cpdlc gander is next request frequencies.
