UK: Remote radar, radio and VOR sites

Good evening. I'm interested to know how these sites are monitored, maintained and staffed, especially those that are absolutely in the back of beyond such as Great Dun Fell. If I can draw an analogy with Trinity House, all their lighthouses, foghorns and so on are remotely controlled and monitored from their HQ in Harwich. Is it a similar situation for NATS from Swanwick and Prestwick or are engineers permanently on site ?

Thankyou.

Methinks that in these days of high security, you might be asked why you want this information...

Because I take a keen interest in technical ATC aspects HD. You have very kindly answered a number of my queries in the past.
