Question DWC approach & Bahrain T&Cs

Hi all,

Seems that Serco are advertising for DWC approach controllers and Bahrain area controllers.

Would appreciate info on current T&Cs for both stations if possible please as I suspect there is some difference with these contracts.

Does anyone know how many controllers for each station they need?

Finally, where is the DWC approach to be done from? Is it from same room as the DXB approach control or will it be remote? With Al Minhad air base very close could make it interesting?

Thanks in advance for info.

cheers

DWC Approach

The Approach is located in the building co-located with the ATCT at DWC. Nice facility with some great people.

In order to be hired, you will be brought in for a two day assesement with objective-based criteria. Meet the objectives, job offer forth-coming. Don't meet the objectives, thanks for coming having a nice career. All subjectivity has been removed.

I did not meet one of the objectives (DFW and IAH Approach), my friend did (DFW and ATL Approach). The way I understand it is he will be offered a DANS contract, not Serco. They are similar but structured differently. Before you ask, no I have not seen them. Just going off what I have been told.

If you get the chance, apply and go to the APC. They are looking for good people that will certify quick. But be advised, you HAVE to meet their OBJECTIVE standard... No matter whether they think you could certify or not.

Hi. Do you have to fund your own way from AUS for the testing or do they help? Some info on the terms and conditions for the approach positions would be very helpful to me.

I believe in most cases they pay for your travel to Dubai for the APC. They did for me but I live close by...

I have no info on the contact details...

I am also interested in the T&C's offered. Do they pay travel expenses to do the tests? I have heard GAL does not pay for travel expenses.
