ULE

"You MUST hold a current CAA/European licence with ADI and APS ratings and have held a ULE in both ratings in the last 3 years. Previous operational experience in both ratings is ESSENTIAL and a meteorological certificate and OJTI and UCE experience would be advantageous."

What is ULE and UCE ?

Down south it was always LCE and LVE, has it changed then? (Local Competency Examiner and Local Validity Examiner)

Chevvron,

it has changed, and it isn't even ULE anymore (as referred to by OP and Defruiter)

UEE - Unit Endorsement Examiner - ATCO authorised by CAA to conduct Unit Endorsement Examinatio
UCE - Unit Competence Examiner - ATCO authorised by CAA to conduct annual competence assessments for the renewal of Unit Endorsements
UE (not ULE) - Unit Endorsement - Authorisation that specifies the unit at which the holder is entitled to exercise the privileges of their licence and the validity of any ratings and rating endorsements included in said licence.

A ULE isn't something you can buy. It can only be had by qualifying on a live controlling position at a unit. They are quite specific requirements (maybe they've had lots of people with one or the other but not both apply?), but I imagine the salary would go up once qualified. Just a guess though.

They had my cv speculatively several months ago (in response to an advert on their website) but I haven't heard back despite exceeding the job specs! Good luck getting someone with experience for that money!!

The salary range in the ad is £30750k - £57785.
they're asking a lot for a £30k salary
Theyre asking a lot for £57785, never mind £30k. Does anyone know if there's some kind of antisocial hours payment on top of that?

ULE

What Atc unit is prepared to send members of staff on these courses with less than 10 years experience??? If you know any I would like to know them!
The reason I said the word "expensive" -
How much would it cost a controller to take leave and complete these courses out of their own pocket???

anotherthing,

Happy with UCE and UE but I thought both CAPs 744 and 788 both refer to Unit ATC examiner rather than UEE?

otatco

I've not looked at those docs recently but the Swanwick and Prestwick UCS Document refers to UEE (updated July 2013)
