Was the 22 days leave policy put into place or are they still waiting for the reaction/lack of reaction to the news?

The leave has been finally sorted out and we have been graciously been rewarded with what we had before, 34 Shifts.
Management seem to be coming to their senses about the 1 year renewable contract thingy, by nothing confirmed as of yet.

Interestingly though, management have emailed staff to see if any of us can persuade colleagues from our previous Centre's to come to the GCAA for what amounts to a very mediocre set of T's & C's. But you know what they say you pay peanuts, you get Monkeys.
This is the first time in in my tenure here that they are struggling to fill expat courses with anyone let alone Controllers with the correct experience background.
The GCAA does have a nice new shiny company logo though.

It seems that T&C in the ME are rapidly deteriorating in general...GCAA is sort of struggling to find controllers, Serco has been advertising Doha app positions every now and then( looks like without much success), and from what I hear, Muscat acc would also like to hire a lot of expats. One group of 10-15 controllers completed apc in January, but with the current package ( not to mention - unchanged since 2009) most likely just a few will accept the offer...

Things are really taking a turn for the worst at the ACC. Another 2nd Floor resignation in the past few days (bringing total to 3 thus far). Replacement of previous useless DATM with buddy of current EDANS. ATCO suspended as what is being suspected as retaliation for an email sent to ATCOs in response to managements request for 'help' in recruiting suitably qualified controllers. I do not believe anyone is celebrating the 34 days of leave reinstatement as we actually have not gained anything.

Again, you must be off your top to come work here right now. It is clear the GCAA will go to whatever lengths to reduce costs. If the summer is anything to go by with Dubai runway closures, the traffic is going to be nuts. Emirates have effectively kicked out the competition and sent them snarling to Maktoum Intl. No proper procedures exist to accommodate the amount of traffic expected. It seems like this eventuality has taken the GCAA by surprise again.

Stay at home. Let the rest of us weather the storm and wait for clearer skies. Maybe not today and maybe not tomorrow....but some day...
