Resource Training Cwmbran

Hey guys,

I'm don't post much, usually everything I come here for has been said already!
But in this case i'm struggling a bit.

On the 8th i'm going to the open day at Cwmbran, I'm quite a novice to all this as i didn't think there was another option other than NATs, and after I failed the box tests ( )
I thought that was it for another 3/5 years until I could apply again. I stumbled on Cwmbran a few weeks ago and have been contemplating it.

I was just wondering if the combined extensive knowledge in this community could help me out with what I should expect.

As its private i was also wondering if people were sponsored while training here or if they forked out what I estimate to be the nearing end of £20,000 themselves!

Thanks for reading my essay guys! Appreciate it

One course of action might be to attend the open day on the 8th and ask your questions directly. If you still have queries I am sure the "ppruners" will help, but you will have more credibility if you demonstrate effort first.

Cwmbran

could help me out with what I should expect.
I would have thought you will get shown around, meet the instructors, given an insight into the course, a go on one of the sim's, a cup of tea and maybe a biscuit. If you are lucky maybe meet some training managers from airports.

As its private i was also wondering if people were sponsored while training here or if they forked out what I estimate to be the nearing end of £20,000 themselves!
Yes to both questions.

Although the sponsorship side is dwindling as the self-sponsoring, people walking away from NATS and others are taking up the ATCO/ ATCA vacancies at airports.

To get a sponsorship I wouldn't expect to walk into an ATC tower, say you want the course and they send you on one. You would first be looking for an ATCA vacancy and proving yourself in that role for a few years before they would even consider you!

It may sound blunt but I'm not trying to discourage you from an excellent career. I would rather, as would others, give you all the facts before you shell out an estimated £25k+

Please don't quote me if you fail to get offered the tea and biscuits.

Sly

Okay thanks for the responses, i'll see what happens on the open day.

Sorry about seeming pushy, i'm just not sure what to expect from this day.

I do appreciate the honesty thought, thank you
