LFV and Sweden
Due to personal reasons I might have to move to Sweden.
Does anybody know if LFV hires/is hiring foreign ATCO's?
And if yes, some info wrt. who to contact/what is required, would be appreciated.

Hi ATCsa!
Right now, LFV is in a pretty bad shape financially speaking and after having lost their monopoly position a couple of years ago, big saving program is running in the company and therefore the amount of vacancies available is very low at the moment. I would recommend you to instead contact the right now only competing, private ANSP in Sweden, ACR. I know by fact that they need controllers at some of their towers (you'll then need a TWR/APP rating).

Thanks for the response. I got in contact with LFV but still waiting for a response from ACR (and Entry point North - the academy). I do have a Twr and App rating but the ICAO level 4 Swedish language proficiency requirement is the problem now. It's going to take me longer than a year to get a grasp on the language imho, and thus my ratings will most likely lapse.
But although it's a gamble I shall remain positive.

In any tower environment you'll be required to converse with local agencies, including handling agents, and the aerodrome authority and fire service who don't require English proficiency.

I wish you good luck then. Entry Point North (EPN) is a great academy where I studied myself a couple of years ago, and they are expanding right now. I keep my fingers crossed that you find something there!
You could also try and contact the CAA in Sweden, Transportstyrelsen, if you'd be interested in working with non-operational issues such as rules and regulations and stuff. This might be possible without speaking very good Swedish, if you know the Doc 4s etc. You'll find more information on their website, Aviation - Transportstyrelsen
I myself am looking for jobs abroad, which is the main reason I’m on this forum every now and then. As I am in contact with you, could you please tell me what the situation is like in SA? Do you know anyone recruiting foreign ATCOs down there?
