Irish ATC blogger targetted by the Fail on Sunday

Now, I'm still livid with ye lot for your wildcat stoppage on Thursday, freinds lost 10 grand's worth of stag weekend, but I'm even more livid with the Mail on Sunday.

Read this blog post. The rest of us in T-w-i-t-t-e-r or on blogs are livid.

If you're on t-w-i-t-t-e-r, hers is @mrs_schregardus.

nosefirst....,

Thanks for posting that mate. It proves that, messy and all as this dispute is, (sorry about the lost stag do..) it is being fuelled to a large extent by the media manipulation that's being employed by all concerned. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story, as they say. What's happened in this case goes beyond the pale, however. She should sue the w%&$ers ass off.

Hey there.I work in the same team with Melanie.Joined the team a month ago and had a pleasure to meet her. What happened to her is just unacceptable-hope she seeks for some legal action.A person has a right to express her mind, and Melanie always does it in a very nice and polite way. What i find absolutely disgusting is the way someone else is twisting every word inside out.Our team is very,i say it again, very nice and i haven*t noticed any rude attitude towards women.
The guys are absolutely great-polite professionals, amazing people to work with.
To Luke Byrne u should be ashamed of what u ve done.did u mention the mail chauvinist pigs?-U R THE ONE

You're right, Bren, there isn't. I was involved in several emergencies at Stansted over the years that made the papers, including controlling the hijacked Sudanese Airbus in 1996 and the Royal Squadron BAe 146 that almost fell out of the sky when the oil seals weren't replaced after servicing in 1997 (yes I know, I was jinxed). Every single newspaper who published the stories got something wrong, and the Daily Mail just made stuff up that was total rubbish about what the pilots had said, what we had said, etc. I'm not surprised they're still doing it - and it's inexcusable. Also Channel 4 made a documentary about the BAe 146 which included a staging of the radio calls etc. The controller was male, which is very odd as I've been a girl for the last 51 years.

Wink

Although I do not know you personally I didn't have to think long or hard to realise that you are a better person than the so called journalist, so all I can do is offer you my wholehearted support, albeit from afar, and give you these words of wizdom:

Nil Illegitimus Carborundum

Oh yeah don't forget to visit down under when you win your libel/slander suit.

daveyb,

It's not just for ATC but for ATC issues. If you have a problem or question about ATC, airspace procedures etcetera please post and one or many of us will respond. Speaking as an ATC, you are most welcome.

I'd rather a pilot with enough interest to ask questions any day, rather than one who just blunders on not understanding the implications of their actions.
