Laurence Lafferty RIP

Sadly yesterday Laurence lost his short battle with cancer. At the age of 45 he was taken from us and will be sadly missed by all that new him. As for "E" watch at Scottish he was one of the team, his enthusiasmn for both his young family and ATC was respected by one and all.....I know for sure there will be a big hole in the ops room today..... gone but never forgotten. Rest in peace Laurence.

Laurence was liked and respected by all of us at Scottish who had the pleasure of working with him. We have lost a good friend. E watch will feel that loss even more as Laurence was such an integral part of the team. My thoughts are with his wife and children at this tragic time. RIP Laffy.

Having spent some time working on E watch a few years ago I am so saddened to learn of this news. Laurence was a true gent and his passing is a great loss to the ATC profession.

My thoughts and prayers are with all his family and friends at this time.

He was one of the best, I used to laugh at him when he wrote his daily reports on students, every last little detail was written down of the training events of the shift, Mr Pedantic but that said, easy to write up the monthly report with the information he wrote. Lawrence, you will be sadly missed. We are all put on this planet for a limited period, some of us are just called to move on before our time. RIP my friend.

Funeral Details

Laurence's funeral is on Wedenesday 25th Nov at St Paul's RC Church, Peggieshill Pl, Ayr at 1000, and he will be buried in Troon Cemetry at 1130.
In lieu of flowers, a basket will be at the back of the church, donations will be split between Ayrshire Hospice and the Marie Curie Cancer Trust.
For those who cannot attend but may wish to give a donation, this is being coordinated through the E Watch Airways Supervisor or you may wish to give independently.
I would also like to add my condolences to one of the nicest guys it was ever my pleasure to know and work with.

Sadly missed

It was an honour to know you Lawrence, even if you did make me look like a dumpling at the 5-a-side.
I can't make the funeral but will be there in spirit.

What a great turnout today.......shows how well Laurence was appreciated by all. Oh boy how brave were his two daughters 10 and 15 to stand up there and solo/duet "Ave Maria"....not a dry eye around ...magnificent and the memory will stay with me for ever. Laurence would have been so proud of them.

I was not able to be there to pay my last respects to an excellent Air Traffic Controller and a friend, however, I paid my respects to him at 10am UK time when I was on sector. The Good Lord obviously had a calling for you Laurence and I pray Angela and the girls can take some comfort from what you did in your life and the love you gave them. Rest In Peace buddy.

Not only was Laurence a total professional in every aspect of his work, he was also one of my best friends.I feel priviledged and honoured to have known him-we went on many trips and fam flights together over the years with lots of happy memories I will always cherish-what a great guy who was taken away before his time.I still can't believe he's gone

Love to his family at this sad time.

RIP my friend I will miss you
