Starting at DFS in JUNE

I will be starting at DFS in June as a direct entry Controller. My partner and I will be arriving on the 16th of May.

If anyone is in the same boat, PM me. It would be great to know someone before we rock up. Also, if anyone has any hints about german stuff, internet, houses, cars, please post.

Mick

Myself and my partner will be shipping out to Karlsruhe in October too. Not that that's much use to you, but it seems that there's gonna be a fair few new folks around.

I have a telephone interview with DFS next week. Does anyone know what I should expect? Any tips from those headed out on courses? I'm hoping to work in Munich

DFS is not going ask u where do u prefer to work ,for example they offered me to work in Bremen.
Something more:
First 6 months 36k euro (simulator)
Next 8 months 60k euro (training whit OJTI)
And may be after that 100k.
I'm experienced ATC and I have been an area controller for 12 years and I have an experience whit 3 (not whit 1) Advanced operating systems
The tax in Germany is 42%. after all of that my answer was :"No tnx"

Prascho,
Its not nearly as bad as you are stating. You are neglecting to add the time off, benefits, moving allowances, training allowances, retirement package, recouperation vacation every 3 years, education allowances for children...Id rather pay 42% tax on the DFS salary than 10% on the average Bulgarian income.

Tnx mate! Now I know why the German ATCs are going to work at Maastricht where they pay 0% tax and South Africa (There is a "New arrival " from Bremen) and don't stay in Germany to pay 42% tax.
I don't see why have some1 else to pay for something if I'm able to pay by myself but it's my point of view.

Hi Tesox,
I have been offered a job also by DFS to start in Jnauary but I need to achieve level 4 ICAO in German. So head down in the books!! Anyway could you clarify what the children education allowance is all about as it did not come up during the interview.

Let's just get this straight ... 'Maastricht' is NOT on 0% tax.

Unfortunately I am not at liberty to discuss my specific negotiations with the DFS.

Allowances are, as I understand, unit specific and negotiable within reason. If you carefully consider your needs with regards to the relocation, then as the responsible head of house, you can reasonably negotiate the relative aid that the DFS can provide.

capite?

gutes Glück mit Ihrem Deutschen

Stuttgart Tower will be on strike this afternoon and only handle 25 percent of it's usual movements. This was announced by GdF union, DFS ATC and the airport. Just this afternoon from four to ten.

prascho - you mentioned that there was 0% tax if you worked at Maastricht. I thought that if you worked there you were subject to Netherland tax laws? Can you please clarify....

Thanks,

Paul
