Filing Flight Plans (UK)

Will your unit accept flight plans for filing?

I understand that if the departure airfield has no AFTN access then plans should be faxed to Swanwick as the parent AFTN but if the departure airfield has an ATSU then plans should be submitted through that unit.

Any comments?

filing flight plans

i believe that the filing of flight plans is now done through afpex (ie online), though at least in the short term Swanick will accept faxed plans, give them a phone and register, you simply file your plans from home.

Thanks for the replies.

Part3 - that is also my interpretation.

However - I've been advised with the introduction of AFPEX and the migration of the parent AFTN function to Swanwick flight plans should no longer be submitted to local ATC! Now I think its a 'misinterpretation' of the NOTAM and Supps 5 and 6/2009 by local ATC but I'd be interested to know how other ATC units deal with FPLs.
