Eurocontrol selection process

hello all,

I know this has been covered to a certain degree already however I'm basically looking for advice/guidance on the eurocontrol selection process from those who have been through it and experienced it. More specifically I am considering phase 2 and the final interview, as the other thread covering eurocontrol selection seems to focus on the feast tests ie. phase 1.

With regards to the interview what kind of questions can be expected - are there many technical or mathematical questions or do they try and put you under some pressure with a few speed-distance-time scenarios etc??

There's already lots of great info for the NATS selection so it would be nice to balance things out a bit as eurocontrol doesn't get nearly as much coverage!

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I guess they called you for the selection process in August? I guess I'll see you there then The basics that I have heard from friends who have been through the Eurocontrol selection process: The questions they ask in interviews are not standard, they ask you question based on how they have assessed you. Thats why the interview process is a few days after the FEAST and the group exercises (im guessing the assess your performance and come up with questions for you specifically). One thing is for sure. No matter what anyone tells you, the assessment at Eurocontrol is well based and there is no way you can "cheat" it. If your made for it, youll get in, if your not, they'll find out right away and cut you. Be yourself. Thats what ive been told from a number of people who either got accepted or not.

Good luck to you

I fully agree with the post above. Having successfully passed earlier this year there is very little you can do to prepare for those awful computer based sessions. Do some research on Eurocontrol itself. You'll more than likely need it in the interview which in my opinion is the main point of shine or decline.
Feel free to PM me. I'm still around Manch occasionally and would be happy to chat.

thats some pretty good advice guys...

However aside from just being yourself is there any other preperation thats relevant? for example are there any technical questions in the interview - should I be brushing up on my general ATC knowledge? As I have a degree in aviation I'm slightly concerned I may recieve a grilling on my technical knowledge!

sVoa - I'll see you a month! And how did you find the stage 1 selection?

Im going for stage one now in august I got an aviation degree as well, so we'll both get the same drilling if it happens

As for stage one, do they make you do any math and things like that, or is it general aptitude tests?

the phase 1 selection consists of two parts; part one is a series of basic aptitude tests in the morining. If you pass these then you get to stay for the afternoon session which is a lesson on how to manage flight strips and then the actual test on managing flight strips.

There is no general maths involved just the aptitude tests. Like everyone always says you can't really prepare for them, apart from having a good nights sleep and lot's of coffee!

...and lot's of coffee!
Careful with the coffee. Caffeine increases your speed, but also increases your errors. Accuracy is sometimes more important than speed in aptitude tests. Many tests are designed so that you never have enough time to complete all of the questions or tasks... testing your accuracy under pressure.

Good luck.
