BBC Breakfast at Swanwick

Good to hear the BBC are taking Declan to Swanwick for his financial reports and a chat to Mr Baron.....loved the comment from "someone" on NATSNET asking if there will be a fight staged in the background like Granstand did for an April Fools joke years ago....and are the teletubbies going to be on display!!!!

Will Andrew be there?
Why? Was Declan's jolly morning arranged as some kind of quid pro quo for Tom Symond's / Ian Shoesmith's reports of 20th March, do we think?

Strange how NATS co-operate with the BBC when in the past the BBC have refused to co-operate with NATS eg 'The Day Britain Stopped'- they refused to give NATS a preview in spite of its high ATC content.

Have NATS given up trying to recruit using Flight International?
Did the guy validate in the end?

Yes, he validated. Unusual stuff always seems to happen on boards, just to add to the pressure, but being live on National Television must be a first!

We all had a chuckle. There were about six buckets carefully positioned to collect rainwater from the leaking roof, and of course the large broken glass roof panel doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

I noticed as I was walking to the canteen and Decky & co. were coming down the stairs, the buckets had been taken away. When I was returning, the buckets had been put back.

I wonder how many resources went into strategic bucket positioning in order to prevent the BBC from spotting them?

NATS is all about spin!
How can we look good and say the right things while living in denial about massive problems that exist!

Hi Mr Simpson!

Are you saying that a few buckets are "massive problems"? I'd love to hear what other problems you think the company might have.

An acute shortage of correctly qualified staff?
Difficulty in maintaining a training/validation rate that will cover natural wastage let alone growth in traffic levels?
Over reliance on an overtime agreement that finishes in a few years?
Too many layers of management?

A cynical mind could see the holes in the roof as a metaphor for the problems NATS does face, maybe it's time to stop using buckets and start fixing the problems properly.

Breakfast at Swawick

How many of the sectors were bandboxed so that the "radar bunch" could get down the canteen, sorry staff restaurant , for their breakfast?
