I got an offer but decided not to take it. The main reason was that although there was an improvement over my current package, taking tax and cost of living into account, we would be not much better off.

The offer was fairly good (once we got over the initial offer of trainee wage ) and did include some help with transition to Germany for myself and my wife. I'd prefer not to give specifics out on a public forum; they asked me not to and I don't think it's too much to ask. If anyone wants specifics in confidence, feel free to PM me.

I also got a better offer elsewhere.....

Cheers,

NFR.

I too received an offer, but have said 'No thanks'. The package was headed in the right direction, but is about two years behind the current packages being offered both in Europe (Maastricht, Ireland) and the Mid-east. I was told they could not match the Mid-east salaries, but what they have failed to comprehend is that in the current marketplace there is a shortage of experienced area controllers, and a glut of well paying positions. If they want the calibre of controller they are aiming at, which going by the selection process is quite high (I know three other people that were tested and each of them was the only one to pass out of three at their respective selection), then they are going to have to formulate a package that is competitive.
To those of you thinking put your money where your mouth is I currently work in the mid-east and was willing to take a little pay cut to get to greener pastures, but no to the extent offered. So I am off to other greener pastures where my remuneration is in line with my skills.

Grrr same here

i also was accepted but not keen to accept as cost of living in munich for family of 4 is way more than the training salry offered.once the salary after gaining license is received it'll be easier on the pocket but the initial setback was too scary for my pocket

WEll it doesn't sound like the DFS are getting far with there search if u ask me. But like FLF said they must be looking for a highly experienced controller. The probelm with that well is u can't pay a person like that on a trainee salary since well most of them have expenses (family n so on). And well u r moving to a unkown country.

Overall i'm disappointed i didn't get an offer but i'm still young in the career and well i probably just wanna be there overall since my fiance is there....

But thx guys for the updates......would be nice to hear from someone that actually took the position hehe.....

Any specifics PM me for the answers, just finished with them 2 days ago!

Nuts and bolts of it...far from impressed Salary....a joke!

You will also have to convince them you want to stay with the company for the term of your natural life...a minimum requirement!

Howdy NFR, you were right on the button mate with your earlier advice.

I just can't believe they are serious. They estimate the training period to last 15 - 18 months, then you join entry level base level salary!

Nup, not for me. Stick with my little center in the sandpit me thinks

Oh and the no tax, cheap fuel and best shwarmers 2 Dirhams can buy!

The only one who will win is german ATCO.
DFS will explain that there is no qualified ATCOs on market,so they must continiue job with current staff level. Than union will say that pay increase must happen. They will get it. Than current ATCOs will work without holidays, days off...
Money for freedom.
Already seen on the market...
