Air passengers safety at risk..........

Air traffic controllers are under so much pressure to maximise the number of landings that passengers' safety is at risk, the BBC has been told.

Whilst there may be pressure on the system to maintain a consistent landing rate in most weather conditions (save fog and extreme weather), we are all professional controllers, whether at Heathrow or any other major International Airport. There will be the occasional occurence somewhere in the world, like that mentioned, which may occur for any number of reasons. To suggest that the controller deliberately put the aircraft into confliction is somewhat contentious.
The whistleblower does little to support his ex profession with this sort of antic. I would find it hard to believe that his 27 year career was without incident. Whilst he may have concerns or issues, I feel it is naive and inappropriate to tar his ex colleagues in this manner. After all it is the nature of the beast that the beloved press will over dramatise, sensationalise and speculate.

2.5 miles, I agree with everything that you said except the bit about "Andrew" being a whistle blower. That implies that the comapny were trying to hide something. In this case that just is not correct

zkdli,

"Whistleblower" was the term used by the BBC in the article, not necessarily my choice of words, too many letters. The company haven't tried to hide anything, the report in question has been disseminated internally and the regulator would certainly be aware of its findings.

Rgds,
2.5

P.S. "Andrew" was reportedly interviewed on radio last night. Two distinct hopes arise;
a) NATS be afforded equal opportunity to respond, should they choose.
b)That this guy isn't trying to line himself up as an industry expert/spokeperson!!!!

... meanwhile, back in the lions den

What are you lot doing muttering in this orphaned thread, today? Surely there are at least two others more worthy of attention on the subject (the one we can all see, and the one I can't )

Oh dear ... it was a nice day for it, but the game refuse to be driven; such as do show their heads scuttling up the path, and the rest clucking softly from the cover of the vegetation ... that's no sport. Oh well, another day perhaps.

Time for an early close and back to the manor. Hot toddies and hot cross buns all round methinks ... must have a quiet word with the beaters about tactics

s and t, in your case it would be better to resist the urge to type anything and just let people think you don't have a clue what you're talking about than to keep on bashing away confirming the fact.

Come back when you understand the subject, I expect that will be a while. In the meantime you just switch me off from participating, hey ho.
