Hi Jetman12

A little tip/request from a current Zone Controller.

When you make your initial contact with the ATC unit your first call should be along the lines of-

"Luton Radar, GABCD request zone transit"

This will give the controller an early indication of whether he can ignore you for a while, stick you on a squawk for the transit or tell you to stay outside if he doesn't think he can get you through. He will probably have a good idea of whereabouts you are before identification if he knows you want a transit.

Remember don't give your life story. When writing down your details all the controller needs is your callsign, aircraft type, depature and destination airfield, altitude and the type of sevice you are requesting. Only give the routeing if is not obvious.
