No I am off to sunny YPKA. After that maybe back to YPJT. Though I suppose with the way things go I could be off to PH TWR again. One is coming up to final checks, the other just started his training.

one would have thought that TOPS would have been renamed by now so it could be scrubbed from the memory of ASA and the new recruits could be sent to a nice new group called.... Northern Lights.... or something similar...

Awol,

If you had your time again, would you have chosen twr or gone for enr training?

Tower for sure. Enjoy the view out the window

Plus you are able to move about the country side a bit (assuming you can actually be released to another position)

Thumbs up

I think you'll find cross training the tower stream to take up positions in the centres is becoming very possible (if not compulsory!!)

Tower is the only way to go
Agree.
Twr is a good first career move. Then after many years and cross stream training, you'll finally become a controller.

Urban D with parallel runways.
I think they were on RAGE last weekend, or was that AFNAG (aerodromes formerly known as GAAP).

Airservices Australia is currently recruiting for 2011 training courses. We are actively seeking to recruit previously trained and rated Air Traffic Controllers.

Airservices Australia employs controllers in 26 towers and enroute centres in Brisbane and Melbourne.

We are primarily seeking applications for our TMA stream, however applications for Tower and en-route will also be considered. Locations we are currently hiring for include:

· Cairns

· Perth

· Brisbane

· Sydney

. Adelaide

So that was an excerpt from a recent advert on seek.com.au as AsA seek previously trained and rated controllers.

So, who has applied?

LOL. As if. Seems the new rostering norm is 4.5 hours between shifts. You can stick that buttercup.

To applicants who completed the October 2010 testing in Melbourne.

Has anyone heard back from ASA yet?

That was my guess but it is nice to hear that there are others in the same boat. Keep us posted if you hear anything. Cheers

Yeah, I did my assessment in Brisbane on Wednesday, and we were told they would get back to us within 2 to 3 weeks (ie by mid-November), especially given the Jan 4 starting date of the first course!

Just a general question regarding daily finish times for the theory component of the course training for those of you currently at the college......

Assuming your finish time is 4pm, would you generally always finish right on 4pm? Do you often finish earlier or later even?

Just curious as to how it runs when it comes to sorting out childcare.

Thanks guys.
