Obtaining a Printout

Apparently, there is no such thing as a stupid question...so here goes!

I'm currently a student PPL. While I was in the circuit, I always thought it would be great to get a radar printout of what I had just done. Not just as a souvenir, but I could see things like if I had corrected enough for drift and if my circuits were consistent.

I was wondering if this was possible...I mean, I'm sure you all have much better things to do, but would this be a good idea for a chargeable service? Maybe charge it quite high so that you don't get lots of request, and ensure security by getting requests signed by the FTO.

mmm...well, it's an idea. Or can you do this now

Oh! It's getting late and I'm tired . Ignore this if you want.

When I was training on QGHs as an ATCO, one of the flying club a/c pilots recorded his progress on his GPS. I must say, I was quite pleased with the results! Maybe you could try this? It would probably be easier!

I agree with foxy, get a GPS that can record, if your cluey with software should be able to download onto google earth and get a nice map of all your flights.

GPS receiver + PDA + Memory Map Software + CAA Charts package + Export to GPX format + import to google earth = the best thing ever.

Agree 100% with timelapse. Flew in a Catalina on NZ a few months ago and popped our GPS on a window sill. Later downloaded the track and have it saved for posterity.

The only way you could see what you did on radar would be if the ATC unit records the radar - as NATS does. It can be instantly played back but it's used for matters other than the one you suggest and you probably would be able to gain access.

Wow, thanks guys.

I never thought of this. I think I've just found some items to put on my letter to Father Christmas.

Don't mean to be critical

I fly from Cranfield where my aircraft is based and some of the circuits were more like a cross country flight than a circuit. Either you are with the large integrated training org or you were following one of them.

Again no offence ment but I have had to follow them almost to Bedford on some occations

haha

These were night circuits I believe, although I honestly can't remember... and yes I know which school you mean, and indeed they are a problem!
