Have just discovered this forum

Hi all, did my Stage 1 last Friday. Amazed at how many people dropped out after first test - thought was relatively simple if you could do maths and had done your prep.

In the diagramming test I felt I really nailed it, answered all 50 and can't see I got many wrong. Unfortunately I found the spatial reasoning test so tough, answered around 28 of the 40....,hopefully majority of them were right but not hugely convinced!

Anyone know if it is combined score of 2 tests or a minimum standard in both - hopefully combined or I may be struggling!

How has everyone else found it?

Hey Guys.

I am sitting Assessment day 2 on the 28th september, staying at De Veres New Place because it was cheap on late rooms! forking out for more taxi's and flights!

Just doing a lot of memory tests and numeracy tests in prepartion, found a couple of good atc apps on android... but does anyone have any more information about the FEAST Test and DART and SDM!?!?!?

Hello everybody, i had to change my NATS first stage interview date literally 30 odd hours before my initial chosen date.

I was just wondering if this would be okay? or did i just make a grave mistake.

Hi guys!

Are we allowed to have a piece of paper and a pen on the stage 1 tests?

Thanks in advance.

just had the dreaded email to say didnt get through to stage 2....

absolutely gutted to be fair as I know what I answered of the diagramming and cubes atleast 90% would of been right, just simply didnt answer enough questions in allocated time so I suppose my advice to people still waiting to sit stage 1 wld be really try and answer all or most of the diagramming and spatial reasoning questions even if that means filling in random answers at the end....

@therealist

Better luck next time, atleast you now know what you need to do when you sit it next time.

How many questions did you answer for diagramming/cubes? you got me a little worried too, when did you sit your stage one?

Cheers

Sorry for you.
I was actually wondering if it is possible to fill in random without "losing point".
How it works ? you've got only positive point or you can have negative point at each bad answer?
We don't know, maybe they look the ratio good answer/total answer and then they look to the total answer and attribute a whole mark.
So maybe it can be dangerous to fill in random....

I would say with a lot of confidence that it is marked as a whole ie. if you dont answer a question then you get 0 and that counts towards overall mark..... as like I say im certain I got atleast 90% of diagramming and cubes that I answered correct....

I answered 36/50 diagramming and 26/40 cubes....

were the spatial reasoning and diagramming questions similar to the one's we received in the stage 1 confirmation email? Were they easier or more complex?

During my stage 1 they specifically said there is no negative marking, but this may have changed.

Also remember that by the end of the day we actually don't know what they are looking for, it may be speed, it may be accuracy, it may be a combination. It may be not having more than 10 faults (random number) regardless of questions asked, and so on.

The only thing that can be done is your very best, exactly what NATS are looking for we will never know, just make sure you do your best because that really is the only thing you can do.

I've been following this forum for quite a while now, but haven't posted or anything. I had my stage one on the 14th in the afternoon and haven't heard anything yet. I wasn't bothered but then I saw that I think that TheRealist was at the same assessment as me and has already had a response! (by the way, sorry it didnt work out for you this time , are you going to apply again in the future?) I'm anxious now to hear something!! I just want to know!! We'll see!!

Hi all, I received an email today from NATS following my Stage 1 Assessement last week, and, as they say on Dragons Den... I'm out!

I answered 46/50 on the diagramming and only 30/40 on the cubes, so maybe it wasn't enough, or I got a fair few wrong...who knows?!

For those asking about timings (If I remember correctly):

Test 1 = 18 mins (30 Questions) - Those that fail this test are sent home.
Test 2 = 25 mins (50 Questions)
Test 3 = 20 mins (40 Questions)

Good Luck to the rest of you!

stage one tests

Sorry to bother you guys, I have my stage one test soon,
I had a quick look through the posts but couldn't find what I was after.

Are the tests multiple choice?

Do I need to learn all of the planes?

and are all the maths S/D/T questions or should I be revising other area's of maths?

I appreciate the help if possible.

Thanks.
