How do people go about getting visits to towers? Do you email the airports direct or email NATS HR?

Hi All, I wondered if I could get some advice regarding the application process:

1: For stage 2, what is the consensus regarding the commercial preparatory software? Does it significantly better your chances, or as some people have already said, you just cannot prepare for this stage.

2: Some people have mentioned doing the medical prior to stage 3. Is this recommended and if all was successful does this medical hold or do NATS send you for one anyway?

Thanks for the help!

Hey chaps, just a heads up that NATS have posted some Stage 1 dates now!

I've already booked myself in for the earliest date, which at the time I looked was the 8th of April.

KirtJE - I'm currently just phoning the general enquiries number for each airport and asking to be put through to the ATC tower. Worked for Biggin Hill, will be trying it for Gatwick and Heathrow today

Crazy,

it was my first time in a tower of decent size, and it was just as cool as I was hoping for! Just like in the movies... an ATSA gave me the tour, I had a good poke around the tower and the approach/radar room downstairs, and spent a good while listening in in both.

Both, I'm trying to arrange visits in connection with other UK visits, but if I can't get that done I will spend the extra money to go over. But I'm hoping I won't have to even though I don't know yet

I have a wee question. On the e-mail NATS sent me regarding Stage 2...they say it starts at 08.15am, however, when I booked the date it said it starts at 09.30am. Which one is correct? The only reason is that I could get a flight that day from Glasgow that would get me in to Southampton at 08.30am which would be perfect timing for me to get to the NATS centre, and would avoid me having to travel down the night previous to stay in a hotel. However, if it starts at 08.15am....then I'll have to.

Just wondering

Gazb - My stage two started at 8.15/8.30. But obviously your's may differ. Drop them an email, I'm sure they wouldn't mind confirming the time for you.
