I've just had a go at these diagramming tests and failed ridiculously.

http://www.psychometric-success.com/practice-papers/Psychometric%20Success%20Diagrammatic%20Reasoning%20-%20Practice%20Test%201.pdf

The firts few are a nightmare and I'm sure some of the questions have errors in them.

Usually when I do tests like these, when I mark them I count the wrong ones, this time it was easier to count the right ones!

I got 14 out of 35!

The ones at the end are simple enough but just take time. But the first 30 were a bit taxing.

Have any of you guys done this test and if so, what kind of marks are you getting?

Gonna do a few more now. Did the numberical one earlier and got 29/30 so hopefully this is a blip!

Hey,

Just found out I passed stage 2 which in my opinion is some form of a minor miracle (considering how I felt when I left).

Hope the rest of you who did stage 2 on the 2nd with me have been getting similarly good news.

Congrats folks

I did mine on the 1st and haven't heard, this doesn't bode well

Pat, I got one of those personality things the day after I sat my Stage 2. Still not sure what it was for though, the questions did my head in after the 20th repeat heh

Too much anticipation!!!

Last year when i failed i heard quite quickly and so part of me has made up some conspiracy theory about it taking longer if you have passed!!! sad right?

Anways congrats to you all who have passed stage 2 so far.. i can only hope i will be in the same boat soon... also has anybody who done stage 1 on or after the 30th sept heard yet?

Hey Emma, well done

The stage 1 personality questionaire was about 100 questions long and it was just statements you had to state your level agreement to:

i.e. a statement such as "I am a hardworking person" and the options are "strongly agree", "agree", "neither agree nor disagree", "disagree", "strongly disagree".

A lot of the questions were very similar but were worded slightly differently, for instance "I always follow rules I am given" would be one, and then another would be "I rarely disobey rules I am given". Then there would be loads of other subtle twists, for example you'd get "I don't feel comfortable disobeying rules", or "I will only follow a rule if I understand its purpose" etc.

I'm trying to remember all the general areas the questions were about. There was certainly one section all about rule adherence, and another about working with other people and understanding their views... can't remember what else. Can anyone who has sat stage 1 more recently add to that?

I haven't heard back yet either Ian...I had my stage 1 on October 1st...it seems they let people now roughly 2 weeks after the test on wednesday/thursday so I'm hoping it won't be too long away now

Like emma, I didn't have a personality questionnaire on stage 1, just the motivation, cubes, diagrammatic and sdt papers

piqla,

You said earlier "i'm not a polish guy (but i'm from Eastern-Europe), and from what i've heard the English people don't like them too much and maybe they will think (do you?) that eastern-european is eastern-european..."

Have you ever been to the UK? If you haven't, maybe it's worth spending some time here before you apply to NATS. After all, if you're successful, you'll be here for rather a long time...

Thanks everyone. I been told my so many people they expect me to get through which makes it so much harder to accept! I asked for feedback (by email as i have been at work all day) and their response was "Seb its NATS policy not to give feedback for Stage 1"

Can you believe it!!!!!!!!

Obv i have replied; desperate to know what i failed on (better not be lack of motivation!)

Seb

Motovation Paper

Does anyone have any examples of the sort of question you get on the Motivation Paper Test?

Not so much with the, aircraft/seats/FL etc, but more regarding the 24 pages of text that precede it...

inchy, the whole point of the motivation paper is to see your motivation for the job, lol.
From previous experience, as long as you have read it a couple of times, the multiple choice questions are pretty obvious, well the non mathematical ones anyway.

inchy listen to Leanne she makes a lot of sense!

As long as you have read and taken in the information from the document, you'll be fine!

Hi,

I just got an email saying I've passed. It's been on the 17th working day, so don't worry the ones are still waiting.

By the way, anybody knows what "your GP details" mean (medical test)?

Well done, 'santomotion'!

GP stands for General Practitioner, i.e. your Doctor so NATS probably want his/her contact address.

inchy,

The questions on the motivation paper are all pretty general things about the contents of the document. You'll get things like, "What does XXX stand for?" or, "what type of airspace would be found... (description of area)?" etc.

Obviously can't really give you much more detail than that without actually telling you the questions (and I'm sure that isn't what you were trying to ask for )

stage 3

Right, starting prep for stage 3 now. I've got the document from the NATS website which lists all the "competencies" they will ask you to demonstrate at interview, most of which look fairly straight forward but a few of which seem a little less standard. Can anyone who has sat stage 3 recently comment on the kind of questions you were asked, particularly in relation to "information processing capacity", "numerical awareness" and "spatial awareness"?
