Say hi to the scouser for me. He used to live upstairs from me. Tell him his flat is still standing.

Working in NZ

New Zealand is only a good option for those wishing to see another part of the world for a short period of time, and for those who are not interested in earning any money, hey it's not everything. Airways are very lucky they have New Zealand as it's drawcard. It is definately a beautiful country with lots to see and do. Airways package though is a far cry from the global median (excluding 3rd world countries). Those thinking of going must realise cost of living in NZ is actually quite high. You won't have too much left from your take home salary of around 26000-30000 Euros. Housing is expensive. Petrol is expensive, Government taxes are high when you consider that on top of your Income tax, you pay a Goods and Services tax for everything you buy / consume. They even tax you on your tax paid savings! Do not consider NZ for financial gain, if you have financial goals, you'll need to park them up for the length of your stay in Aotearoa, as you'll only be treading water. As they are bleeding staff to foreign destinations there may be a decent increase this coming March when they renew the contract, but history would say not, regardles of the efforts of the Union. The company is tight fisted and prefers to refund profits to airlines, and increase Dividends to the Shareholder, the Government. Enjoy your time if you go. There is plenty of fruit picking in season to supplement your income.
