Morale Booster for NATS

We have suddenly become inundated with paper darts and boarding cards. What a great money wasting wheeze. Any views?

The NATS executive has;
a) Too much money to waste on pathetic marketing ploys
b) Too many muppets sat in offices with too much time on their hands to think this crap up
c) An inane belief that the 'staff' are going to respond positively to something so crass

I am actually looking forward to the next steps in their campaign, because it is actually boosting morale. Not quite in the way the executive would wish for though! The 'staff' think the whole thing is hilarious and are united in their belief that they are being lead up the garden path by people who don't know one end of an aeroplane from another!

The NATS old boys will be turning in their graves tonight...

"creating exciting destinations..."

NATS is off on a journey. Firstly, some received paper aeroplanes featuring the buzzwords for the campaign and a mysterious logo made up of 20 jigsaw pieces. This apparently is to represent the '21' exciting new destinations dreamt up by the muppets. Maths obviously not a strong point!

Now, some have received boarding cards - which is an invitiation to join the journey to the unknown destinations.

I have decided to keep my freebies - it's not often you get a gift from NATS. Keep an I out for these collectables on eBay!

I am quite worried.

Heads have been rolling up at HQ and my invitation to an exciting destination says nothing about it being a return journey !!!!! Is this a ploy to empty Swanwick ?

Swanwick is already half empty - they sent the 'muppets' to the new 'Corporate and Technical centre'. That 'call centre' is full of muppets. I expect HR to be next, then contractors, facilities management, engineering and finally - ATC.

It all looks funny at the moment but be wary. These Turkies have no idea and for many the boarding card will lead straight to the job centre!!!

Apparently they want us all to be more like Germany (DFS). I really don't know what to say about that.

I saw these paper aeroplanes yesterday and totally ignored them! It's hard to believe somebody is getting paid (a lot) for coming up with hair-brained, and lets be honest, embarrassing ideas like this

Perhaps the boarding card is for the paper plane.

Can't wait for the "inflight entertainment"

My morale would be boosted enormously if we could go on Familiarisation flights and Liaision visits at the companies expense and in the companies time as it is a direct beneficiary from such visits, and if I was addressed by name and not an "Operational Resourse", and I would also settle for a "Please and "Thank you" occasionally.

One further thing!, Minesapint says that we have to be like DFS, why do they want us to be like a furniture store?, although with this latest wheeze we seem more like McDonalds. I wonder who Ronald McDonald might be?

Scuse me DC10 cappo. THEY want US to be like DFS not I Gungadin. I think that DFS shift almost as much traffic with a lot less people? Or so they would have us believe.

Who got the contract to produce this waste of paper?

Let me guess it was a company whose boss used to work with our Chief Exec at GEC Alsthom or with his friend who joined NATS from GEC Alsthom!!! JOBS FOR THE BOYS!!!

Muppets and 'planes!!

Isn't this stuff just nonsense. New Chief Executive ... more new initiatives. Thank goodness for the professionalism of the people at the "sharp end" - the ATCOs / Engineers etc. "Lions led by donkeys" comes to mind.

I do not quite believe what I am reading here - and hope that it is not as insane as I have a sneaky feeling it might be!

I am on leave at the moment - should I be prepared to be well and truly upset on returning to work?

Today is the first day back at work. It is true. I received my fake boarding card to " exciting destinations" in my mail slot. Peatairs comment about "Lions led by donkeys" sums up NATS in so many ways. Roll on retirement!!!!

Those swines at NATS! Not only did I lose my shares when I left, I never got any paper aeroplanes!
Now that I've heard the CEO of another ATS provider speak, all I can add is "Lord preserve us from mission statements and incompatable goals."
If anyone would care to share the specs of the aforesaid paper aeroplanes, please do so for the benefit of non-NATS controllers. Our ops rooms need litter too....
