Manchester ATC-Thanks for the help

Could someone pass on the following to those involved in the 13:25 Emb145 go around on 26/1/02.. .-At 200'a loud (mechanical sounding) thud was heard and felt through the fwd fuselage.Even the number 2 cabin crew,sat right at the back,heard it.. .-From go around to touchdown ATC were extremely helpful which gave us extra capacity on the flight deck.. .Specifically-Being vectored around without having to change level avoided the need to interrupt thought processes.Avoidance of a hold its radio aid/FMS set up briefing,entry and monitoring is always appreciated under these higher workload situations.. .-The plain english discussions with a/c at the hold (at the time of GA and prior to landing) were both reassuring and useful.Likewise the checker vehicles runway and undershoot debris inspection.. .-The checker vehicle assessment of our nose leg position prior to landing was important.Although we had no technical reason to suspect an offset on this a/c type a hydraulic pipe burst on one of our J41s did result in a 45 degree position error.This would have put a rather different slant on things.. .-During the holding vectors we were able to concentrate on assessing the problem,speaking to our line engineers in Manch and our operations and technical specialists on the Island keeping the pax/cabin crew - calm/updated.If the checker had seen something odd the go around and contigency plan/checklist for a subsequent abnormal landing had been reviewed.. .-Finally,the fact that there was no overreaction on the emergency services front avoided unnecessary media attention (we have enough of that already).. .This is not the first time ATC have helped me out in this way but I think it is important you get some feedback.Your professionalism is appreciated.

I didn't deal directly with your incident but saw and heard it all going on.

I shall make sure those involved (think one of them is a PPRuNer anyhow) know of your kind words and I shall pass on your thanks.

Nice to know we, as a unit, are getting it right.. .We've had too many incidents in the last week or so - has been unusually bad. Let's hope they all go as well.
