Aircraft Performance Categories

Can anyone please help me...

I have a list of 53 aircfraft for which I am trying to find out Performance Categories for.

They range from a C172 to a A340-600. We use these aircraft in our simulator and the only way I seem able to determine the categories of the aircraft is by asking operators.

Surely someone has a list somewhere??

Andy

Don't be lazy. Read AIP ENR 1.5 paras 1.2, 1.2.1. It gives you the formula and the airspeed ranges for the different categories.

Do some net searches to get the information needed to apply the formula and Roberts your parental sibling.

Either that or your could ask TMDU or the TFDC, TTGO or TGO cells, they may have the info to hand.

Just to start you off F-111 is cat E, B747 all types D, B737 all types C, A340/D, A320/C, Beech 200/300 series B, Cessna 152/A, used to have to know them off by heart when strips were hand written.

Best of luck

welcome_stranger,

I am not familiar with the TMDU or the TFDC, TTGO or TGO cell....
Or the term \'Roberts you parental sibling\'...

And I(we) still write strips by hand for everything....
I\'m sure this give you the clues, that I don\'t work for the same organisation as you...

Although we are not expected to know the categories off by heart, I think as a future professional ATCO is behoves us to have this knowledge.

But thanks for the first few categories.
I believe from the talks i\'ve had, the F111 is Cat C, but Cat E in an emergency, with the wings swept back. Is that what you have encountered??

regards
Andy

You don't recognise "Bob's yer Uncle"? I'm very surprised. Several Aussies of my acquaintance use it.

S76 is Cat A but some countries recognise Cat H for helicopters - don't know about yours.

ATCOAndy

Boeing 757-200 is Cat C, Boeing 767-300 is Cat D. At least once the list is complete you can post it here for anyone else who needs it.

Sri Andy got the (mistaken) impression you worked for the major supplier of control to aircraft within designated areas of Australia, obviously it must be the minor supplier of these services.

The following may have some errors - I am currently working off (old) memories

A300 series C
BA146 (all series) cat C
B707 (all) cat C
DC10 D
PA32 B
Aerostar B
Cessna 400 series are all B
Dash 8 (all) B
EMB110 B
EMB120 B
PC-6T A
Metro/Merlin B
IAI Astra C (?)
IAI Westwind C (?)
B777 D
C172 B
BE58 B
BE200 B
BE350 B
F27/F50 B
LR35/55 C
Grumman Mallard B
SF34 B

Sadly all Beech Starship 2000s have been bought back by the Beech/Raytheon company and destroyed (stupid US liabilty laws) but if they were still around they would probably be cat B

All Helicopters are cat H (ref AIP 1.5 1.2.1) but cat A is acceptable in most cases.

BTW TMDU, TFDC, TTGO and TGO are the keepers of the arcane knowledge within TAAATS

As a future Tower Controller you have to know how fast you can expect an aircraft on final to be when it crashes...oops sorry lands.

Best of Luck

Aircraft Performance Categories - Final few

Thankyou to all who have helped with my list of Aircraft.

I'm now down to the final few, which are:

Boeing 767-200
Boeing 767-400
Cessna 210 Centurion
Cessna Citation 1
Cessna Citation 2 / Bravo
Piper Navajo / Chieftan
Piper Malibu

I'd also like clarification on a few aircraft, which are:
As I've had contradicting/unconfirmed categories given to me...

Israeli Aircraft Industries Astra
Boeing 707-300
Israeli Aircraft Industries Westwind

Regards
Andy

PS I do know the term 'Bob's your Uncle' had just never heard it used as 'Roberts your parental sibling'

At least one Beech Starship still flys, it was used as a chase plane for Bert Rutans Spaceship One venture on 21 June.
