Hi Captain

I think with the cubes it is either a case of you have got it or you haven't. Although practising a method before hand must improve your results.

In my tests everyone had different methods, some were attempting to revolve the question paper to see it better, I saw one person even drew out the cube on the eraser provided!!!!

Tip for Cubes

As Dave says you can either do it or you can't!

My tip though (for what its worth) is practice, practice, practice but in all honesty...

pick 3 sides (adjacent) and see if you can figure out which of the solutions has those sides!

don't worry too much about those cubes! If it is any consolation I did appallingly on them (one of the lowest scores ever). I am now valid at LACC, an OJTI and examiner. ITrained on the two busiest en-route sectors at latcc and can honestly say I was never asked to make a cube at any stage. IMHO that particular test looks for a skill that we don't use very much in ATC. 3D chess I think not.
